They are definitely aiming high for the lottery... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=nba&id=1754056 ATLANTA - The Atlanta Hawks on Monday signed a forward Jason Collier to a 10-day contract. Collier averaged 15.4 points and 7.2 rebounds in 30 games, including 21 starts, this season with the Fayetteville Patriots of the NBDL. He was in training camp with the Minnesota Timberwolves before being waived. The 7-foot Collier played two seasons at Georgia Tech after starting his collegiate career at Indiana. When he left, he ranked 10th in school history in career scoring average (17.1 points per game), seventh in rebounding average (8.3 rebounds per game) and 11th in blocked shots (67). Originally drafted by Milwaukee 15th overall in the 2000 draft, Collier played in 61 games with the Houston Rockets from 2000-03. His best season came in 2001-02 when he played in 25 games, averaging 4.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest. Collier took the roster spot available with the expiration of Hiram Fuller's 10-day contract.
Jason had 16 points, 5 rebounds in 33 minnutes.4-9 fg and 8-8 from line. Pretty good debut on very bad team
hey can someone post a picture of him..his name sound familiar but i jsut couldn't quite put a face to that name
Here in Savannah GA, we get the Hawks on TV. I watched a little of the game. Seeing Pryzbilla and Collier on the floor at the same time was interesting. Collier actually played rather well for the Hawks.
I realize I am a member of a very exclusive group who believes Jason will be (at least) a servicable back up for 10 years in this league.
I watched a small part of the game on NBALP. It was interesting that the Hawks had Collier at PF and matched up against Boozer most of the time I watched. (Although Pryzbilla and even Crawford had Boozer in transition). A decent job IMO. Unlike the vast majority of this board, I've never been a Coller hater and was real surprised (given the scarcity of big men in the EC) he didn't land on an EC team a lot sooner than he did. It also appeared to me that Collier had slimmed down a little and looked more mobile than during his brief Rockets minutes.
