The story is amusing, but it shows that the younger generation of Japanese is actually getting that we really did **** up 70 years ago, and that's something I'm glad to see in contrast to the older generations who won't admit anything.

ahem, well Ms.Suzuki I hope next you read up on Pearl harbor and your sneak attack on the U.S. When the shame and sadness of your country's evil doings consume you and you feel the need to set things right, I'll be first in line help you reach your goal.

Like I said, it's largely the older generation, people who fought in the war or whom had parents in the war and have memories of the cluster**** that was post-war Japan. People like my parents who were born in the fifties and refuse to believe anything horrifying happened at Nanking and who have claimed that the China should be grateful. The crap that is taught at Japanese history classes doesn't help, either, though to be fair, Japanese education is fairly overrated by the West.

But despite that, those whom are younger, say under thirty, generally understand that we really weren't that great. The reactions can vary to what degree, particularly with the bomb (something you just don't talk about), but there's a dialogue regarding the war which just hasn't existed in the past. It's definitely improving.
