1/26/91 On 1/ 26 Maxwell lit up the Cleveland Cavaliers for a career-high 51 points-30 in the fourth quarter....At the time, only four other players in NBA history had scored 30 points in a quarter: George Gervin (33), David Thompson (32), Wilt Chamberlain (31), and Michael Jordan (30) ....Maxwell hit 14 of 25 field goals in that game, along with 4 of 10 three-pointers and 19 of 22 free throws in 46 minutes. call you when I need you, my heart's on fire You come to me, come to me wild and wired When you come to me Give me everything I need Give me a lifetime of promises and a world of dreams Speak the language of love like you know what it means ohh, it can't be wrong Take my heart and make it stronger baby You're simply the best, better than all the rest Better than anyone, anyone I've ever met I'm stuck on your heart, and hang on every word you say Tear us apart, baby I would rather be dead In your heart I see the stars of every night and every day In your eyes I get lost, I get washed away Just as long as I'm here in your arms I could be in no better place You're simply the best, better than all the rest Better than anyone, anyone I've ever met I'm stuck on your heart, and hang on every word you say Tear us apart, baby I would rather be dead Each time you leave me I start losing control You're walking away with my heart and my soul I can feel you even when I'm alone Oh baby, don't let go You're the best, better than all the rest Better than anyone, anyone I've ever met I'm stuck on your heart, and hang on every word you say Tear us apart, baby I would rather be dead Oh, You're the best...
Was this when he won the game with the last shot...If so, I was at that game...had great seats that I won at work... Maxwell was the man...
Maxwell was a great player for us and was a key cog in our championship in '94. In '95, he showed that he is a spoiled rotten, unprofessional, punk a$$ed b!tch.
some people are still angered that max decided to take a rest from his job as a superhero. regular people shouldn't criticize superheroes.
I remember hearing a story about Max being robbed when he played for S.A. in about 1987. Two guys robbed him at gunpoint near the arena, one took a chain. Max chased them down and threw down a hard beating on them. He was later sued by one of the guys for injuries, the Spurs organization setttled it out of court. One serious bad *ss.

I remember watching it on TV. Awesome 4th quarter performance. I don't hate Maxwell but him punking out on the team is on his record. He could have asked to be traded and handle it more professional and discreet, even if its not in his nature. Not like the team didnt want him around, he could have easily been part of the deal or any other deal. But, on this day we shall honor the great Mad Max's incredible feat, and exhault him as a Rockets hero.
I dont understand why people want Max to be Ned Flanders. Alot of other Rockets left the team unhappy too. Dream, Rudy, Steve, Mario etc.. Was Max not happy that Clyde was the starter? of course! what do you think? Max wants to be the hero always. Did Max overract? of course! that's Max ! Max was an emotionally firey guy and that's good and bad. He's like Wolverine and the Rockets were the Xmen.
I knew Max was a key player for the Rockets, but I never knew he did that good! I was only 6 at the time, so he was just a little bit before my time. Mad Max was awesome.
What's more impressive is Maxwell winning 4-5 games of pool with one arm during the 1993-1994 offseason at Yucatan Liquor Stand (had the cast on during the offseason after the Rockets were knocked out by Seattle that year). The One-Armed Shark. Someone gotta photoshop that!!
Feel free to change your name to YugoKobeFan. hey, do you have a country to cheer for? sorry, just being mean.
yeah.. how about this? where's the Kobe stat on this! Vernon Maxwell slugs Portland heckler (Houston Rockets at Portland, 1995) With the Rockets on the way to a 120-82 loss, Maxwell lost his cool and plunged 12 rows deep to punch a fan who had been heckling him. "If I had been there, I'd have probably cold-cocked him, too," said Maxwell's lawyer. "You can't think of anything more vulgar, more fighting words, than what this guy said to Vernon." Maxwell got a 10-game suspension and $20,000 fine from the NBA. Not only did Vernon use his keen super sense to find out the heckler. He FOUND THE CORRECT HECKLER!! He didnt smack the WRONG PERSON like Artest! If it was Max in Detroit, there wouldn't be a MELEE. cause Max would have beaten the hell out that whole section of De-troit fans.
Yes I remember. I was at the game and MAD MAX was unstoppable. I just missed Worrell's commentary on Max's performance.
I hope Max realizes there are people that like him. Although he could have done more in the game if he worked harder, he really laid it out on the floor when he played. I wonder if he has made amends with the folks on the 95 team. I am sure one side didn't understand each other and hope time has healed wounds.
Was this the game where Robinson lunged for the steal off the inbounds at halfcourt, misses the steal and Max nails the long 3 at the buzzer to win? I remember watching that game.
