spokesman for the California Highway Patrol confirmed that Oakland Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of drunken driving. Janikowski The third-year veteran was stopped for speeding in his red 2001 Mercedes on Interstate 580 in East Oakland. He was subsequently administered a field sobriety test and the spokesman said he registered a reading higher than the state's .08 legal limit. He would not confirm a published report that Janikowski's blood alcohol level registered .19 or that it was measured at .20 in a second test at the Alta Bates Medical Center in Berkeley. Janikowski, 24, could be subject to fine or suspension if he is already in the NFL's substance abuse program. Because of confidentiality guidelines, it is not certain if the former Florida State star is in the program. There were two incidents during his college career and one last year, when he received five stitches after falling and hitting his head on a dance floor in San Francisco, that might have qualified Janikowski for phase one of the league program. The team's first-round choice in the 2000 draft, Janikowki scored more than 100 points in his first two professional seasons, and he is in pace again to top that benchmark. Janikowski has converted five of six field goal attempts this season and all 14 of his extra point tries. For his career, Janikowski is 50-for-66 on field goals and has made all 102 extra points he has attempted. Len Pasquarelli is a senior writer for ESPN.com.
Arghhhh. This guy finally starts the season off right and now he ****s it all up again. Well Which old washed up Kicker will we have to sign to blow games for us now.
That game was the worst regular season Oilers game I ever endured. When Ian missed that 30-yard fieldgoal versus the Redskins, who were undefeated at the time, I was livid. Then I see that pretty boy *crying* after the game in the locker room. Unbelievable. That game haunts me to this day.

Oh my gosh, Howfield is even more screwed up than I could have imagined! What a psycho. He must have spent a good deal of time drafting that rather lengthy response to Ric. Literally, when his kick sailed left of the goalposts (I remember this like it happened last night), my body was confused by the intense feelings of pain and anger that were occuring simultaneously. It was an internal struggle the rest of the day.
They should sign Trader_Jorge. It would be better than the Grammaticas. Instead of leaping around after making a kick, he would just yell CASE CLOSED!! Maybe the fans would yell with him -- awesome. It'd fit the team image.
I can feel your pain. You just described what happened to me a certain Saturday Night in Early January. Although as best I tried not to, I went on this very BBS and spewed out a load of profanity and hate.
ditto! most painful regular season Oilers game I have ever watched... I was ready to kick Ian's butt after that game... edit: holy crap i just read the Ian Howfield story... man that dude is one bitter man!
I was a bit stunned by his stats......50 for 66 field goals and has never missed a PAT. I knew he was doing well, but that`s awesome. Hopefully he`s not in the NFL`s substance abuse program as that could lead to a suspension. I was surprised he agreed to a field test because it seems the past few high profile athletes have refused to do so.
Janikowski is determined to give LT a run for his money in self-destructive behavior. What is this, the 4th time already?
