Lebron James seems to be the kind of players moneyballers like Daryl Morey would like. He will be an unrestricted FA in a couple of years and I think Daryl Morey may want to go after him. I know John Hollinger, another stats guy, rank him highly on his list.

The Rockets won't have any significant contracts on the books (unless they sign someone to a long term deal) other than Yao and Shane Battier in 2 years. I think James will be a good third piece to add to that duo.

Besides, James is popular in China, too, and we all know Rockets want to make Chinese fans happy.

    Great idea!

I'm glad we got a "stats" guy for a GM since otherwise he wouldn't like Lebron.

MAKE IT HAPPEN MOREY LETS GET HIM!

    in before lock homo

I like this pick, maybe I'll write a 5 page essay on a stupid theorem.

Morey sucks he won't do it.

    GET IT DONE MOREY!! WOO!

    IBTL

    why is I rookie

    Dispatch the backless stool!

According to my basketball science, this pick would be irrelevant by the year 2010 because the formula or participatory occupation does not agree with my splice theorem.

    ,,,,,yi jianlian,,,,,

What about VSPAN? Green? They are future allstars...DNTRWL

I think that might be impossible, but we know anything's possible. I guess it would depend on the makeup of our team at that time. Yao should be at his prime and if Lebron makes his decision on winning, we should be in the running.

No way Rockets can sign LeBron. I am pretty sure he will end up in New Jersey

I say we take a time machine and get rookie Jordan back on our team. Morey's moneyball would work too, we'd only have to pay him rookie scale

Yep. He has no urge to come to Houston since we don't have any rappers as members of ownership.

Maybe Les can sell Mike Jones a piece of ownership so Lebron will come here.

Maybe we can work a deal with New Orleans for Chris Paul while we're at it.

The advantage of Moneyball is to find productive assets that not everyone and their mother covets. No bidding war or intense competition involved.

It's like mixing jellybeans and making a better flavor. You aint payin more for better tasting jellybeans. You're just making more with what's readily available.

I like how Jay-Z has about a 1% ownership stake in the Nets and is seen by the general public as the majority owner.

This is a brilliant idea. Unfortunately, if Yao and James were on the same team, it might cause a civil war in China as to who is their favorite Rocket. I would bet on North China personally as their hardy staple of rice would energize them when the supply of noodles and dumplings of the south have been exhausted.

Houston is a big market. China is a bigger market.
