I wish he would do this a lot more in game 5 he had 2 spot ups, and they were cash for some reason, he’ll have a spot up opportunity, but he won’t take it and will instead wait for his defender to recover...I’m sure on film they show him all the much easier 3 point looks he passes up or doesn’t capitalize on he’s been posting up a lot more in this series which I like since at least it’s something different...I’d like to see him spotting up a lot more too We will never get the midrange Harden back, but could we at least get the spot up three Harden back? Harden’s percentage on catch and shoot threes since he’s been in Houston 19-20: 41.2% 18-19: 41.4% 17-18: 36.7% 16-17: 39.5% 15-16: 41.4% 14-15: 39.9% 13-14: 38.6% 12-13: No data available
He doesnt get much spot up attempts. It really is a shame. These dude's will never almost never leave him open either lol.
Would any of you know if he shot more spot up attempts this year than years past? Just curious if Westbrook being here had any effect on that.
he shot the 2nd lowest amount of his career on a per game basis...it was higher than last season, but not by much
Yes, Russ has had at least indirect positive affect in this area. MDA also has introduced more sets to give him these looks this season since Rockets have fully embraced small ball. Last season Harden had a historic amount of unassisted points.
Having both Westbrook and Gordon in the starting lineup should help create more. Two other drive and kick options. Gordon, at his best, makes the starting lineup much more dynamic offensively and solid defensively compared to House. Even though House has been playing well.
I've always thought Harden should get more catch and shoot opportunities. Especially with the additions of Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook the last few years. It would help Harden save a little energy for defense and the 4th quarter when he can take over.
He should be getting more of these with westy in the game.. pick n roll game with him and Gordon/green with harden waiting at the 3pt line,,, sheesh, game over
