Definitely interested in this ....Cameron is the only one that "gets" 3D and I always enjoy his films.
I agree. Stuff like this seems like it would almost be better as just an IMAX documentary about spelunking and just not even bother with a hackneyed plot and wooden acting. Also is that Lucy Lawless?
That's the first thing that came to my mind, the two minutes of acting that they did show was terrible. Though I think the 3D experience will be fantastic, can't say the same for the plot of the movie.
Except the The Descent is freakin awesome! This movie looks very ehhhh.... Can you even call this a movie? Seems more like a documentary.
James Cameron is almost always a mixed bag. The Good - The visuals are sensational, The Bad - the scripts are usually two dimensional, cliched, sappy, use recycled gimmicks and character types from his other films, and he usually doesn't get the best performances from his actors.
I wouldn't disagree with that except for the performances part. Cameron doesn't make films that make you think...but I don't care...he excels at making blockbusters. That's what I pay to see when I watch his films and I'm never disappointed. If they nail the atmosphere in this one, I don't think anything else is gonna matter all too much...seems pretty obvious from the trailer that the dialogue/story will be pretty formulaic. But will they nail that claustrophobic tension that made a film like The Descent so damn enjoyable.
