I heard CD on 610 this morning saying that MJ's agent wants to do a S&T. My ? is if we do it, who is still available for the MLE and who is likely to go? I have been to busy to keep p with player movement lately. Sorry is this topic has already been posted.
Nice. I assume that it would be for our Trade Exception. We probably then give Mike James 4 full years under the TE with max raises? Very Very Nice. If true, James recognizes that we need the MLE to get another player to be a contender.
Howard has negative value to Toronto. However, the TE has positive value. I don't think B. Coangelo is in the business of screwing himself over.
Why would his agent want that? That would mean less money for him and his client. You would think he would want a 4 year MLE deal.

CD says the Rockets need depth in the backcourt. So maybe Fred Jones and/or Marcus Williams. I personally think theyneed depth at the 3/4 positions (Rockets can wait for next year's backup center options). Maybe the Rockets can grab Wilcox...either the Sonics realize Wilcox isn't all that and stops asking for an "all-star" PF in return, or Wilcox agrees to the 3 year deal under 10 million with the Rockets (his agent stated that he would take either a Nene deal or a 3-year deal worth under $10 mil). More realistically, Ely seems like a poor man's Wilcox except the poor man was only a few dollars short. Ely would be a nice pickup at the 4 as well in my opinion.
Wow, people are really really really harsh. I'm not the biggest Howard fan, but at least he plays hard when he's on the floor. With regard to Toronto having interest in him, I sincerely doubt it. Even though the salaries are close, I can't imagine why Toronto would want to handicap themselves by taking on Howard's contract. There's pretty much no one else on our team that we would trade who has the matching salary we need to make a S&T work. Capologists?
Don't know if it's true, but Randy McIlvoy of Channel 2 news said (last night) that Mike James told him earlier in the week the he would be willing to take a 3 year deal (no team specified) but would prefer an option on a 4th year. Presumably, that's a player option. We have read that the Mav's are offering 3 yrs, full MLE. We could beat that with 4 years under the TE with max raises. That is also a compromise position between 3 years full MLE and 3 years full MLE and player option (basically 4 years full MLE.) Unless CD is going to bid against himself, the only reported offer to beat is 3 years full MLE. We don't have to go all in, not yet.
Mike James in a S&T for our 4.2M TE is the best of all possible worlds for us. The question is, is MJ cool with that S&T or when they are talking "S&T" does that mean James wants more money, above that of the MLE? Not sure how to read that. Toronto doesnt want to take back salary so they aren't going to S&T James for Howard or anyone like that unless a 3rd team is involved. IF the Rockets can get Mike James via a S&T for the TE, then if I am the Rockets I focus in on offering the Pacers (RFA) Fred Jones a 4yr FULL MLE deal and see if match. The fact they took on ANOTHER swingman in Marquis Daniels says to me they would be willing to let Jones go if the price is too rich for them to match.
