He just declared for the draft. Would he help the Texans if he were to be drafted by them?

Jamarcus will be the #1 overall pick, I doubt he'll be available. But if he is...it would be interesting to see what decision McNair and Kubiak would make.

TROY SMITH FOR THE TEXANS IN 2007!

If Jamarcus is available, though, I think we have to take him...

If he is there they should definitely take him, but he and Quinn will be taken first and second. I say Adrian Peterson or Lynch first round. Then Troy SMith or Kevin Kolb in 2nd-3rd round

He will go wither #1 or #2 to Oakland or Detroit. It would be an absolute no-brainer for the Texans at #8, but he will not be there. I would love to have Russell, but it looks like the best option will be to hope Troy Smith will fall to #40, but I think he won't. I think Peterson will be the pick.

I have a hunch that we're going to draft Lynch.

No, they have to adress Running back, they cannot go into next season hoping Ron Dayne and Taylor can handle the load.

They wont draft a CB in the 1st round. Depending upon who and what they land in the FA's, they will probably go for LB, DL or OL.

If they get Adalius Thomas, they probably go for say Glenn Dorsey (DL) or Levi Brown (OL). If not, Posluzny is an option. If they couldnt land Michael Turner from the Chargers, then AP (if available) or Lynch is an option, but not likely. They could possibly go for Michael Bush in the second and trade down to pick up a Safety-Landry or Nelson as well as an OL and or a DL.

Bottom line, they NEED to find a way to stockpile a few extra picks. They have more needs than even FA could fill. We need some luck and some breaks as well.

Final component of course is how do the prospects fare in the combine?

Troy Smith will not make a good NFL quarterback.

They need to get some free agents, legit ones. I havnt ever seen the Texans do that besides the acquisition of Eric Moulds. I think they need to sign a good proven corner or safety, not just rely on the draft. I think they need to focus on RB and QB. Those are 2 very weak spots on this team. If Adrian peterson of Lynch are there at 8, they should take them, no questions asked, if not, I would go with defense. 2nd round I would go with troy smith if available or kolb in the 3rd. They need some more offense. I know defense is important, but they have a young D from last year. You need to score points to win a game, something the Texans cant do right now.

Yeah, why not. He is a proven winner, mobile, and leader, much better than David Carr from what I can see.

To be completely and utterly honest, I have no idea why I think that. I know that he's all that listed, and I guess the only thing I can say is that he's short, but so are a lot of NFL qbs.

Other than that, I just have a feeling. I'll probably be wrong, though.

    Texans Team Rankings

    Offense - Yards - 28th
    Offense - Scoring - 28th
    Offense - Rushing - 21st
    Offense - Passing - 27th

    Defense - Yards - 24th
    Defense - Scoring - T-25th
    Defense - Rushing - 20th
    Defense - Passing - 22nd

Lesson: Just as last year and the year before that etc. We need help everywhere. You can say we need 'Player X' because we need help at 'Position Y', we can't go into the season with 'Texan Z'. But that satement can be made about virtually every position. Can we really go into the season with Carr at QB? With Dominic, Dayne, and Chris Taylor? Can we go in without more help on the OL? The DL? The Secondary? The Texas still have enough holes where they should draft the best player available regarless of position.

Russell has all the skills to be a great nfl QB but he is too inconsistent and therefore i think he will be mediocre at best. IMO Troy Smith will be a better pro despite his size.
