I'm taking notice of the guy.
He may not be Tracy McGrady
    but.
I think he would be a perfect fit here.

If I'm wrong let me know but
He doesn't seem like he HAS TO BE THE MAN.
At the 3 he would be like a consistant
    leaner, faster Jamal Mashburn.
    [Dribble, Pass, run the court!!]

    Francis
    Anderson
    Rose

    Would be Great.

    Rotating in Moochie and Cuttino
    would give us some variety.

Then we can concentrate on the rest of the
    Front court.

Ok, so how do you plan on the Rockets acquiring Jalen Rose? Please don't suggest using Walt Williams or Bryce Drew and the $4.5M trade exception.

    If Walt/Bryce +4.5 would get him . ..
    YES! I WOULD DO IT.

    Throw in Massenberg, Bullard,
*gulp* maybe even 'LOS ot K.T.

Ok, let's look at this from Indiana's view. Why would they take Williams and Drew for Rose? Drew wouldn't start over Travis Best and Jonathan Bender or Al Harrington would get the start over Williams. If Rose decides he doesn't want to play in Indy (and I doubt that will happen), Indy can do much better than a couple of reserves for Rose. If Indy had to trade Rose, they'd want a quality starter in return. None of those guys you mentioned would start for Indiana.

All season long this board has been talking about trading our marginal starters and bench players. This has always made me smirk, because this is about has homey as it gets to presume any other team is going to give something substantial back for a Bryce Drew or Walt Williams. Oh...mabye we can package them to add value, like teams really want two marginal players for a lottery pick. Hell, if Chicago doen't want their top pick, they can just trade down for two marginal picks and maybe get lucky with a Michael Finley at #22 than take two proven marginal commoditites like Drew and Williams.

Face it folks, the only people around talking serious trades for Drew are us dreaming homeys. Can you imagine other fan boards even mentioning Bryce Drew (except maybe Utah for Eisley). If you want something more than marginal from trades, you must trade Mobley, KT or Cato. ouch!!

Drew might help trade up from 6th to 5th or down from 6th to 14-16th and a veteran PF, but I say that is probably the best he will add.

    Oh...and Rose...forget it.

    McGrady or Webber (next year)

You would have to package something more like KT and Mobley. Can we just stop this big trade ideas, unless you are will to mention something involving our top pick, KT, Mobley and Cato.

Everything else is silly dream talk with visions of the Drexler "I Want To Play With Hakeem" trade.

I would probably be willing to part with Cato.

Jalen has star potential and won't be dealt for something Indiana doesn't need. They have Mark Jackson, they have Travis Best at the back up.....why in the hell would they want Bryce? Walt? Nah, they small forward spot in Indiana is loaded too, with Rose, Croshere, McKey, and Bender (whenever he figures his position out). Ain't gonna happen.

That's more like it. Here's something to add to your Fortson scenario, if there is not a sure thing at the 6th spot, I would consider our pick plus Drew for Fortson and Griffin. Fortson was an 8th the year he came out, and he has proven he was worth a 6-8 for sure. He is a sure commodity to me.

Sure, that is very ambitious of me to assume they'd include Griffin, but others are talking the impossible with Drew, Walt and our exception for $9m stars. Since Pitino nearly gave Fortson away for free, I think I'm closer to reality than the crazy homeys.

Don't focus so much on ridding ourselves of Drew, think about doing the best we can with the 6th pick, and that includes packaging it in a trade for proven players unless there is a power forward out there with the record Fortson had at Cincinnati.

I think Fortson for Walt Str8 up would
satisfy me. I'd even give Celtics some Cash.

IMO . . . WALT MUST GO. He is a CAP HOG.
For little to nothing in return.
Maybe we need a CAP HOG that only has one
year left but Walt has what? 2?3?

    BACK TO ROSE.
I think you maybe right. I think I'd
GIve CATO and K.T. for Rose.

Indiana may go for it because
    SMITS' FEET
    They really miss DAVIS #2
Big Smooth is 39 Years old.
Time for them to get younger INSIDE

    Cato is becoming a WALT
    a CAP HOG.

Is Chris Mullin still with the Pacers?
    I'd Trade walt for him.
Neither plays Defense but . . .Chris is closer to a pure shooter.

Rose surely is not living Indiana. And Cato plus KT decimates our front line. Rose is the consummate SF. I'd suggest Mobley/KT for a star power forward.

We really have little we should go after except the PF/Center people, since we most certainly lose our PF, center or draft pick in any substantial trades.

And Fortson is one of the best PFs out in the last 3 years. You're not getting him for Walt. You are not getting anyone worth talking about for Walt.

Rocket...you're a dreaming homey....would you want walt if you were another team.

    Heypartner,

u bursting all my pipe [dreams]

I'd trade Walt for a ham Sammich about now
I'm just not impressed AT ALL
and see where he will improve.

    I know this though.
WE NEED TO GET A F.A.
    ALONG WITH the Picks

    even a minor SF/PF/C
with SOME skill [read NO SKILL w/ Walt and BUll]
What about that bowen guy in miami?

I don't want Rose. Like OT said, he purposely undercut Elie, which resulted in a broken wrist for Mario. And, he never apologized. He's a dirty player, and I don't want him period.

I can't believe Clutch hasn't brought up the Elie incident yet.... how soon we forget. [IMG]

    well, here's the answer.

IF a free agent (such as Rose) is leaving, regardless, his team (The Pacers) would be willing to trade for little things instead of nothing. Prime example, the Pippen trade. Was Pippen not a star? And how much did we trade to get him? Yes, Roy Rogers and a SECOND round pick. If Jalen was to make it clear Houston is where he's going regardless, we could easily get him for Walt Williams-and still keep our exception. But, in this case, he hasn't decided where he's going, and could go elsewhere, or stay where he is. We aren't talking about trades, where both teams want equal value, and the salaries have to meet, in sign and trade, it's pretty much anything goes. Usually though, it helps when the Rockets have the money to sign him, rather than rely on the trade exception, in case Indiana decides to play hardball, and not trade with the Rockets. I doubt Rose accepts a $2 million exception (don't we have one of those?)

The problem is Walt is not an addition and no team would want him. His salary is huge and he is overpaid. They would rather get nothing in return then Walt.

    Oh cmon heypaard,

the Rockets should be able to get something for these scrubs. Not stars like Rose, but someone. The Rockets have to use that trade exception anyways.

Its just a matter of finding the right team willing to give up the right player(s) for our players.

like I posted before, maybe the Rocks could try to trade for Croshere. Drew, Walt, Rogers? Probly doesnt work moneywise, but talentwise - maybe.

How about something from the Clipps ... dont they need players? How about a trade for Candiman(doubtful), or that Kloss or Nesby guy?

How about the Raptors? Dont they need a point? Maybe the Rocks could get a decent post player for him.

    Or Boston. Danny Fortson. Maybe.

Atlanta. Alan Henderson I think his name is. He's pretty decent even though hes had a bad year.

This is just of the top of my head, but the Rockets should be able to get something decent for those players, although not a *star*. And you never know ... they might get lucky ...
    ...
    ...
    ...
    they better!

I agree with HeyPartner, y'all are dreaming. I am not sure I would want him anyway. He is the one who undercut Mario Elie and caused him to break his arm. It was a dirty play and he meant to do it and never apologized for it.

I couldn't disagree more. I mean, Two Sandwiches was horrible. So, One Sandwich has to be worse.
