Tuesday, September 3 Rose's passenger suffers non-life-threatening wounds Associated Press LOS ANGELES -- A passenger in a car driven by Chicago Bulls guard Jalen Rose was shot in the face during a carjacking attempt early Tuesday. Rose was not hurt. The passenger was hospitalized, but his injury was not life-threatening, police Officer Ed Funes said. The pair, traveling in a new Bentley, were approached at about 3 a.m. in Brentwood by an armed man who demanded the car. Rose sped away, but the suspect started firing, striking the 34-year-old passenger, Funes said. Authorities withheld the passenger's name because the suspect is still at-large. The 29-year-old Rose, a member of the "Fab Five'' at Michigan from 1991-94, left after his junior year to play in the NBA. He was traded from Indiana to Chicago in February. ------------------------------------------ Scary stuff
Dang, where'd he get shot at? His ear? Its pretty hard to get shot in the face and not die, I would think. I would think he ws pretty lucky. This is pretty scary, as mentioned.
I hope the passenger turns out okay after all of this. Maybe the bullet just grazed him in the side of the face?
I'm not sure how wise it is to try to speed off with an armed man threatening you. No material possession is worth your life. I'm guessing even if the man had stolen the car, he wouldn't have gotten very far. How does one get away driving a freaking Bentley? Reminds me of story I saw on T.V. about a guy taking a Rolls for an "extended" test drive. I'm glad that Rose and his friend are ok though.
If Im that friend of J.R.'s I getting a hookup for life! Why didnt he just give up the car? Its not like he couldnt afford another, or that the insurance wouldnt of taken care of it. What if that bullet does end up costing him his life. Whats Rose's excuse then? Uhhhh but its a Bentley. To me, Rose now qualifies for Dumbass of the year.
And if Rose surrendered the car and he and his friend were both shot anyway, then would he be a dumbass for not driving off when he had the chance?
Really! I don't blame him for hauling ***. I think his choice of cars is questionable, however. Wish I had his problem of deciding what to drive.
Agreed. The smart thing to do is just give it up. I thought the NBA instructed the players as rookies about situations like this.
The weird thing about this story, to me, is that the carjackers were reportedly driving a Lincoln Navigator.
you know whats more amazing? didnt paul pierce get stabbed in the face something like 8 or nine times at that night club? i dont even see any scars.
I would have done the same thing. You don't give up the only advantage that you have over a predator. I'm glad his friend wasn't hurt worse.
I'd drive too. If the guy is crazy enuff to shoot at you while you are driving away (a time where he has nothing to gain but murder) then he may have killed them both in the end and got the car. I'm a betting man, and I'd bet that most criminals would just let you drive away. I could be wrong tho'.
