Jaylen Brown - Boston Celtics coach from 2016 to 2021 - Brad Stevens
Zach Lavine - Minnesota Timber wolves coaches 2014 to 2017 - Adelman, Saunders, Mitchell
Bradley Beal - Washington Wizards coaches from 2012 to 2015 - Randy Wittman
Dejounte Murray - San Antonio Spurs from 2016 to 2020 - Popovich

Gotcha... Don't tell me that you don't know that these 5 guys were either top 2 or 3 when it comes to usage rate and mpg during those years.

In the end JG is still at the middle of it and his stats isn't as bad. But among the list, there's just him and Lavine that's playing with a different coach/system by their 3rd year. So what's your point? Are you claiming he's still worse than the ones in this list?

Great post. Fair, objective, with just a sprinkle of positivity and perspective. Refreshing considering the amount of negativity and hate the young man gets (for various reasons). His play has been a rollercoaster, but I can see he and Coach Udoka working to make him a better and more well rounded player. I'm here for the ride... Go Rockets!

Nope. I just proved that JG's as good as those in the list even with a new system. If you don't know Randy Wittman then you're never a basketball fan.

I disagree with the term “significantly.” The average TS% has gone up a little over the last decade, but it’s a major reach to say that somehow should be taken as a ding against Green when comparing him to current players, especially given several in the OP are not that much older. You shouldn’t have to work so hard to be a hater.

thats actually not accurate. i edited the original reply on page 1, you can go back and look at the data. Seems you just "feel" like these things have changed a ton when in actuality they havent been that drastic.

Jalen's role on the Rockets is simple -- pass the ball to Sengun or throw down a flashy dunk -- all these other stats are just fluff.

I mean you can say everything is insignificant and everyone is a hater but theres a good reason green isnt talked about as highly as other rising stars. And its not because people have a bias against houston

He’s not talked about because he had a slow start. It’s the exact inverse of why people still talk about Cade even though he’s been cheeks. Agendas are set early.

I will politely ask once, please dont make this the same baseless back and forth arguements that are going on in 5 other threads. I would ask if this could be a more civil intellectual conversation from all sides.
    More of this please!

Now, regarding this specifcally, when sorted by Pace, you will see this year is 19th. The 70s and 80s were a wild time, so in the modern era (lets say last decade) the rankings are as follows:
    19-20
    18-19
    23-24
    22-23
    20-21
    21-22
    17-18
    16-17
    15-16
    14-15

now this does show it has gone up over the decade of 93.9 in 14-15 vs 100.3 in 19-20.

but again, pace has stabalized the past few years, its 99.3 this year. Conversely, the rockets play at a 96.3 pace which lands in the middle of the past decade.

Now efg% has steadily increased over the past decade thanks to analytics by about 4% from the avg being 50% to the high this year of 54%. And in that same breath, as the leagues reliance on 3s increase the fg% drops, which is why fg% is often frowned upon.

Your point has merits, that the league is more efficient and has gotten faster over the years, but its not so much that the comparison this year vs any of the others is worthy of note imo. The 2 times it does seem to come into consideration is for the older guards like CJ and Klay.
