He's the only player asked to play for team USA. They didn't ask Sengun or Jabari.

Lol I get the joke with Sengun.

But I'm still perplexed how Chet got in and Jabari didn't when Chet played zero NBA games. I'm sure Raptor fans are livid also that Chet got chosen over Scottie Barnes.

He could be. I'll keep saying that none of our young players have shown me enough to declare them "The Franchise Player". But I can almost guarantee you that the Rockets organization wouldn't mind Jalen taking the reigns as it would validate their pick (the highest Rockets draft pick in the last 20 years).

Jabari could be as well. If his summer league play was a precursor to a breakout sophomore season, then he moves up on my list of team investment priority because you can't teach his measurables (height, wingspan, etc.).

Amen could be too. Need to see him against actual NBA comp., but if he is able to hold his own and has any semblance of a consistent jump shot then he too leap frogs Jalen in my opinion. Similar reasons as Jabari, his measurables at his position are just too good to ignore.

Sengun has been impressive but that's to be expected considering dude has been playing professionally (against grown men) since 2018. He should be the most polished of our prospects. If Ime can unlock a defensive game plan that utilizes his strengths and minimizes his weaknesses, then he has a chance to be a franchise cornerstone as well.

I'd say Jalen has a leg up on the three that I mentioned, but it's by no means a given and if one of the other young core pieces shows they want it more I can see the Rockets going in another direction.

Nope, he isn't either, yet, but he has a chance to be.

Man the main takeaway from these videos is just how different the game looked back then. Look at all the fast breaks in the rookie Jordan video and how all the teammates rush to get into the paint instead of running to the three point line. Honestly made for horrible spacing.

Also the average player in the league is a lot more skilled than the 80s era NBA player. You can just see how ball handling and off the dribble moves have progressed so much.

Because obviously Green will never be close to Jordan level of player but if you just saw these videos with no context you'd think Green is the more skilled player.

Yeah, I don't like comparing different eras like Jim Brown to Earl Campbell
or Babe Ruth to Obtain or Wilt Chamberlain to Jokic.

That's why I said lighter version of Kobe/MJ. I've never said
    carbon copies.

Defensively players had to stay close to their assignments.
If they left to double, they had to commit fully.

Images of Kenny Smith passing to Olajuwon, passing back to Kenny,
Olajuwon repositioning deeper in the post.........that would have
Starks, Harper, Greg Anthony would go back and forth like a yo-yo.

Centers were about 275 lbs to 300 lbs.
PF's were from 245 lbs to 280 lbs.
Fast breaks were different because those bigs were slower.

Team defensive zones were allowed in 2001 (I believe).
Teams have become so smart with analytics that they
can pack the paint while knowing who to guard on the
perimeter and who to lag off and pack the paint.

Jalen Green wished he had that much space when driving to
    the basket.
    ________________
MJ had bigger hands.....helped with many dunks in traffic.

MJ would hack offensive players across the forearms and the refs
would call clean strip.....defenders would get all ball and the refs
would call foul. MJ, Kobe, Jalen Green may even out to be the same
accordingly, because the NBA rewards those that facilitate and
    attack the rim.

Where MJ was a two tier level scorer, FT's, fast breaks
Jalen Green is a three tier level scorer, FT's, fast breaks.

    MJ was (3P%).......(age)........(3P%)...(age).Jalen Green
    rookie...17%............(21)..........34%....(19) rookie
    85/86....17%............(22)..........34%....(20) 2nd year
    86/87....18%............(23)
    87/88....28%............(24)

Will never roast Don G cause he’s one of the best in the GARM. But I don’t know who our franchise player is, and I don’t think anyone can truly know after 3 yrs of Silas and a GM who wasn’t interested in putting together a decent team. Jalen’s development has been stunted due to those factors. While I agree that he may have the highest upside, the BBall IQ and lack of significant progress from year 1 to year 2 certainly call into question him being the franchise. I would submit that at this point Amen is our franchise player because the 2023 draft is really good, and Amen’s upside is arguably just as high or higher for 2-way basketball. Sengun would be right up there with or ahead of Jalen to me because he’s actually proven to be a better player at this point, and he’s actually slightly younger that Jalen.

but props to Don G always ;)

Didn't Sengun turn down team USA to focus on next season?

I think Amen might steal that title

I don’t see much drive from Jalen and that’s my biggest complaint about him
