So what exactly are we looking at here possibly a revamped Mcgrady and Yao? We getting a redo at this thing?
JG, Alp and Chet is a strong core with JC supplementing, and if KPJ continues to evolve that’s a strong young team imo Really just a long forward away at that point
I’m thinking we take Chet and pair him with Sengun.. we can come off CWood for maybe Boughknight and a pick.. pair Boughknight with Jaygup in 2nd unit.. then fill the 3 spot with high energy guys/athletes in Jasean and KJ. maybe next year go get Bacot and be ready to run
Maybe the real question is…. Sengun & Chet?… are we looking at Joker and Yao on the same team with Mcgrady 0_0
Neither player is anything like Yao. If Green develops T-Mac's passing skills he's gonna be a perennial MVP threat.
I saw someone on Rockets twitter post a pic of Kyle and Rhonda in bed with the caption: "Chet after he gets drafted number one." Now I can't get it out of my head. ( "13 points/ 12 rebounds and 2.8 block shots is not enough for me to vote him all rookie first team." Bill Simmons after Chet helps turn around the Rockets interior defense.
Can’t wait to see Chet on Tilman’s jet eating chicken strips and day old soggy fries with his Landry’s bib. Spoiler
I have several concerns about Chet that prevent me from getting behind this. To me, at the end of the day, for such a high pick, there's actually a pretty decent amount of risk involved with Holmgren. True, the high side is out there, but too much downside risk there. Give me Jabari.
1. Draft 7'0 Chet with Rockets FRP (trade up if necessary - Tate/2024 FRP). 2. Trade Nets FRP + EGo to Hawks for 6'9 point forward Jalen Johnson. 3. Trade Wood + Tate to Pacers for 6'11 Myles Turner. 4. Promote Abdelfattah to Rockets assistant coach. 6'5 KPJ 6'5 Green 6'9 Johnson 7'0 Chet 6'11 Turner. Bench: Sengun, Jaygup, Mathews, Garuba, KJ, Nix, Queen, vet, vet
No trade for Ben simons? Where did wall go? No way we trade our frp and Tate to move up in a position just to draft chet.
I can do a Ben Simmons trade too if your heart is set on it. Especially now that his value is so low. Wall would fill "vet" slot or bought out, minor quibble. And trading Nets FRP + Tate to secure Chet is doable if Rockets guaranteed no worse than 5th overall. I like Tate but he's not untouchable.
I don't want Ben simons, was just surprised u didn't mentioned any attempts to grab him seeing how u r still enamored with a player yet to play a min. I don't think chet is worth trading up asset and a player. Like if we missed out on chet there's always wemba. Like if someone else won the lottery and we got the second pick, I'm not doing that.
Wembayana in 2023 is not guaranteed, that strategy is worthless. And while Simmons is injured and out of shape this season due to sitting out, he still would be best playmaker AND defender on the Rockets if added TODAY. There is no gotcha moment here for you. And this kid should be easier to acquire on Hawks team loaded at forward and needing proven vets to compete for ring. Rockets have all time in world to develop and give up minutes to young LONG 2 way players, especially at forward spot.
What are these risks you speak of? Aside from his frame/body, what could be included on a list of "too much downside risk"?
I'm just saying I can only see myself trading up the draft for a prospect like wembaya. I can live with drafting Smith if we don't win the lottery. Ben simons isn't gonna b trade for cheap. Literally was the center piece for the harden trade even when he has yet to play a min this season. We don't have assets to swing for him
I agree. You brought up Ben Simmons, not me remember? And you are assuming Rockets will be guaranteed top 5 pick again next draft. The future is not written, so grab the brass ring when its presented to you now. And I am already on record, all over CF, that Jabari is a very close second preference after Chet. My scenario above is what I would do if I was Stone because Rockets need elite rim protection more than elite jump shooting.
