Even if Kobe pleads guilty, I don't think he will get any jail time (becuase he is a celebrity)? I also think he won't plead guilty (and I'm not just saying that because I'm a Kobe fan)!
He would get jail time most likely. Even if he doesn't it's 20 years of probation which might include jail time anyway. Tougher question would be if the trial ends up in a hung jury (any decision with less than a 12-0 vote), will there be a retrial?
I just dont get how anyone can be a Kobe fan unless your sick. Common sense. The girl has been getting death threats and is not caveing in for money. She doesnt want money. She wants him in jail. So the argument Kobe supporters use is she is after $$$. Wrong. She was raped obviously. I just dont see how anyone can support a rapist just because he can jump high. I even see girls wearing Kobe jerseys. Sheesh. Its getting really hard to be a nba fan(and the Rockets are part of the overall nba establishment) when Stern and other money hungry freaks dont care about who is playing, just so long as they dunk. This is where Mark Cuban was right. He said the nba(Stern) wants Kobe in the league to boost ratings. Damn he was right. Sick world. But,Kobes accuser is the dumbest girl I have ever seen for putting herself in that situation basically flirting like crazy. I wonder if Kobe can actually use the defense "the girl is stupid".
If Kobe is found guilty, he is going to spend a good amount of time in the Colorado Departement of Corrections. No questions asked. Not "jail", but prison . There is a big difference. I'm no expert, but the way that Kobe's defense is handling the case leads me to believe that they know damn well that Kobe made a mistake. A huge mistake. Huge. A life ending mistake. Kobe could not have picked a worse place to rape/cheat-on-the-mother-of-his-baby-girl than Eagle County Colorado.
If he's guilty, he's going to serve jail time for sure. This isn't a civil trial so there won't be any out of court settlements so it's either guilty or not guilty. At this point, I have not heard any evidence "beyond a resonable doubt" that Kobe raped the girl but that of course can change.
Kobe is an explosive player on the court how can you not be a fan of his game. Off the court he has problems and needs help. My prediction: Hung jury or mysteriously the woman changes her story after the swiss bank account gets full.
Aren't you the one who called his accuser a w**** yesterday? So now she's the stupidest girl you've ever seen, eh? SWEETIE'S position before the trial has begun: 1. Kobe = rapist (obviously) 2. Kobe's accuser = stupid w****
With the way star athletes and even second-tier athletes get preferred treatment from the so-called "swift hands of justice", Kobe will never serve a day in prison. With how Damon Stoudamire has been found with large quantities of mar1juana, Ruben Pattereson allegedly sexually assaulting his children's nanny, and countless other players with similar stories, none of them have served jail time. I am aware that rape is a bigger and more haneous crime than those listed above, but the most Kobe will do is probably be found guilty on a lesser charge (which is what his defense attorney will most likely settle for after she finds out that character assasination doesn't bode well with jurors), Kobe will have to go to counseling, participate in community service, make ammends and apologize to all of his fans and his teammates, be on probation for 3-5 years, pay a hefty fine (?), and then 15-20 years from now, everyone will talk about how great Kobe was, argue his place in history among basketball's elite, and people will vaguely remember this ever happened. Justice holds a scale, a sword, and wears a blindfold, but somewhere in that toga, there is a pocket that is waiting to be lined with the almighty dollar.
I'm also interested in knowing how's Kobe's play to be affected on the court when he is to play against the imminent onslaught of insults? Bend over and cry like a puppy, miss all the shots seeing an opposing fan holding up a Kate poster, or dominate through sheer will? It's going to be interesting.
One thing to remember is that he picked the WORST state to commit a sex crime in. Colorado has probably the toughest sex crime laws in the country, something that Im damn glad about.
How about the effectiveness of such laws? Does Colorado have the lowest sexual crime rate across the states?
Translation - My boyfriend/husband cheated on me and now I hate all women who even so much as look at men who have a girlfriend/wife.
Before posting my thoughts on the matter, Tyson was the first person I thought about. However, look at Tyson's character, he and Kobe are night and day. One's character and repoire can have a big impression on the jury. Tyson was already known for being aggressive and abusive (see Robin Givens), whereas everyone was completely miffed and shocked about these allegations that Kobe was accused of. Also Tyson didn't give the best testimony either, he was abrasive to the jury at a time when he needed to make the jury believe his version of the story. Nonetheless, I stand by my comments that Kobe will never see jail time.
