Is anyone else tiring of this kids act?

He was drafted to be a 2nd or 3rd receiver and return punts and kickoffs. He had a couple of good preseason games last year and all the sudden he’s all over that indamix website and acting like he’s Andre Johnson or something.

He gets hurt and has virtually no impact on the 2007 season. Any time he gains positive yardage on a return, he celebrates like he just won the Superbowl. This year, he puts the ball on the turf 3 times against the Saints and drops a very catchable game-winning 2-point conversion against Dallas. All the while, still celebrating like a rock star on the rare occasion that he does something positive.

In the meantime, unheralded guys like Andre Davis, Kevin Walter, and David Anderson have OUTWORKED HIM and passed him on the depth chart.

Time for this kid to grow up and start living up to his potential. His act is getting old.

I think most people are tired of it but if he does mature, Jacoby Jones could be an impact player at punt returner and WR. Too early to give up on him. I would have a sick feeling if the Texans cut him and he thrived somewhere else.

If he struggles this season, he'll be back next training camp with his job truly on the line.

didn't the coaches make him hold onto a football for an entire day earlier this week? thought i saw a blurb about that in the chronicle....

if he could hold on to the damn ball he'd be a very solid weapon.

Right now, Jones is easily the #5 receiver on this team. The touchdown that was called back in Dallas was a kind of questionable, but the Jacoby Jones of last years preseason would have made that catch. He needs to get back to playing like he's fighting to make this team. The Improvements in David Anderson and Kevin Walter are clear, but Jones on the other hand....

He's not off to a stellar start... that's for sure.

You can tell he has no confidence whatsoever. Unless he gets that swagger back he had in his first preseason then I don't see him being long for this team. You can tell he's playing scared despite some of the false bravado.

This being said I think he has a ton of potential. It's all in his head IMO

It is all in his head. Unfortunately probably getting cut will be the thing to snap him out of it. Thenhe will be the pro he can be on another team. But let's be honest, the NFL has a TON of flame outs every year. One injury can totally screw up confidence or physically the player never will be the same. Also early success can go to one's head and we never get the full potential of the player because they stop working as hard as they can.

The reports of his excess clubbing don't really help him in anyone's eyes either.

Tired, but gotta hold on to him through this year. He's got the moves, but not the hands. He should get a lot of playing time Thursday night vs TB. I want to see him in on punts and kickoffs and lots of WR duty.

I really hadn't noticed the excess celebration, but the fumbling does bother me, especially for a punt returner. We always complained about how slow JJ Moses was and how, once he broke loose through the first set of tacklers, he never had the speed to take one all the way, but that guy NEVER put the ball on the ground.

Looked good last night as a receiver (which is more important to me actually). He was going against the Bucs #1 pick (his name escapes me) and eh made some tough catches and one really nice move after the catch in the first quarter. His biggest problem as a return man is he doesn't accelerate into the gap like last preseason. He's looking for the big hole (or hoping) instead of choosing one and just going full speed

    Yeah, me too.

I agree with some of you that I worry that if he's cut he'll bloom into a very good player.

I just hope that he can get it together here soon. He had me hyping him last season and never showed what he can do.

i was kinda hoping we'd take him too... but if you're getting frustrated with jacoby, then talib would just drive you nuts....

i read reports that gruden has already been complaining about his constant tardiness and lack of maturity, the same character issues that probably led to us passing over him in the draft

I think anyone who listens to Charlie Palilo(sp?) wanted Talib.

Spencer Tillman also seems like he is tired of JJ's excessive celebrating when he referred to it as "crap" on Texans Huddle lastnight.

Yeah, he did that last week too. That's actually what gave me the idea for the thread. Never heard Tillman talk like that!
