Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - The Chicago Bulls and Toronto Raptors are reportedly close to a trade that would send swingman Jalen Rose to Toronto. In exchange, Chicago would acquire forward Jerome Williams, guard Alvin Williams and guard/forward Morris Peterson.

WGN radio in Chicago is reporting that the deal could also include forward Donyell Marshall going to the Raptors with Toronto center Antonio Davis going to the Bulls.

Rose, who is in his 10th NBA season, is averaging 15.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game this year. The 30-year-old Rose has been in Chicago since the 2001-02 season when he traded from Indiana on February 19, 2002.

The Michigan product was selected by the Denver Nuggets in the first round (13th pick overall) of the 1994 NBA Draft before he was traded to Indiana where he was with the Pacers for five-plus seasons. In 687 career games, Rose has averaged 14.4 points, 4.1 assists and 3.6 rebounds per contest.

Rose was reportedly ticked off earlier this season by being labeled as a scapegoat for early season losses. Rose was pulled out of the starting lineup of a November 8 game against New Orleans. Rose had started in 323 straight games until that point and said he was angry about being benched by head coach Bill Cartwright.

Jerome Williams, 30, has played with the Raptors since 2000-01 and is averaging 5.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per outing in 11 games this year. The eight-year veteran began his career in Detroit after being chosen with the 26th overall pick in the 1996 draft.

Alvin Williams is in the midst of his seventh season in the NBA. He was first drafted by Portland in 1997, but was traded to Toronto after having spent just half a season with the Trail Blazers. The 29-year-old Alvin Williams is averaging 9.0 points and 4.1 assists over his career, but is posting only 2.6 points per game this year.

The 26-year-old Peterson has averaged 12.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game during his four career. Peterson was selected out of Michigan State by Toronto with the 21st pick in the 2000 NBA Draft. Peterson is also struggling this year as he is averaging just 6.5 points over his first 11 games of the 2003-04 season.

Marshall, who is in his 10th professional season, is averaging 9.3 points and 6.5 rebounds this season for Chicago. The Connecticut product is playing for his fourth team as he also had stints with Minnesota, Golden State and Utah.

The 35-year-old Davis was first drafted by Indiana in 1990, but did not play until the 1993-94 campaign. Davis spent six years with the Pacers before he was shipped to Toronto where he has been since 1999-2000. For his career, Davis has posted 10.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.

This would be a monster trade, but it doesn't really make sense to me. Seems like a move just to get rid of disgruntled/expensive players.

I'm assuming if the deal goes through that Alvin Williams would take over the PG spot in Chicago. Jalen Rose would either play SF or PG for Toronto, probably the point because the Raptors have Michael Curry and Lamond Murray at the 3. If Antonio Davis or JYD get moved then Chris Bosh would instantly get a lot more PT.

    Very interesting.
