This is pretty messed up! http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/basketball/nba/06/09/bc.bkn.playerinjured.cr.ap/index.html
Well, Speeding Run thru a Stop Sign No Seat Belt What can u say? It's lucky the other car ppl only get minor injuries. Best of luck to the passengers in the other car. I hope JR Smith gets well soon and learns his lesson so he wont be danger to himself and other people.
Those were my thoughts as well. I hope the guy pulls through this one OK, but based on the article it sounds like he was the reckless party here.
Could he get majorly fined for this after he recovers?? "click it or ticket" Also if he was speeding and the accident was his fault... maybe he could get some jail time? Anyways, hope he has a speedy recovery.
if we believe espn.com and jr's dad, he's fine http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2899338 Denver Nuggets guard J.R. Smith and another man were injured Saturday when the sport utility vehicle Smith was driving collided with a car. According to a report in the Newark Star-Ledger, state police spokesman Sgt. Stephen Jones said Smith and Andre Bell were ejected from Smith's SUV in the crash. The crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Stagecoach Road in Millstone Township. ESPN.com's Andy Katz spoke with Nuggets front office executive Bret Bearup, who told Katz that the Nuggets have spoken to Smith. Bearup said that while Smith sustained bumps and bruises in the accident, his injuries are not life-threatening. The Star-Ledger reports that Bell suffered serious head wounds and was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune, where he was listed in extremely serious condition Saturday night. Smith was also taken there via ambulance. The driver of the second vehicle, as well as Carl Marshall, the second passenger in Smith's SUV, also were injured. They were taken to CentraState Medical Center in Freehold, but neither had serious injuries. Marshall, a basketball player at Seton Hall, had just completed his senior season. Smith's father, Earl, told the Star-Ledger that J.R. was "fine -- he was thrown from the vehicle, but there's no injuries. He was with two friends, coming home from a barber shop." According to the police report, the accident happened after Smith's vehicle went around a vehicle stopped at a stop sign on Stillhouse Road where it intersects with Stagecoach Road in Millstone Township. The police report said that after Smith continued into the intersection, his car was hit by another car, which had the right of way. The impact overturned Smith's SUV, tossing out Smith and Bell in the process. Smith and Bell, according to the report, were not wearing seatbelts while the driver of the other car and Marshall were wearing seatbelts. The airbags in the other vehicle deployed. The 21-year-old Smith was a star player at Lakewood High School and St. Benedict's Prep in New Jersey. He averaged 13.0 points in 63 games this season
Well now that we know he's ok, what a f*cking *******. This happened to me the other day actually. WTF is so hard about waiting your turn at a stop sign!
What did you expect he had the same problem in the playoffs, when he should have stopped and popped but instead drove right through the lane without even looking and got blindsided by Tim Duncan. Some people never learn.
I hope he's alright but this dude seems to be a punk in every sense of the word. It's a shame because he's got a ton of a talent too.
now that he's okay 1. knew he was flopping. 2. should have worn a seatbelt, he's lucky he didn't paralyze himself or his passenger 3. lucky the other drivers were okay, otherwise it would be involuntary manslaughter
Beat me to it, but the Nugs source on the board I post on confirmed that JR is ok. But to prove that the Nugs are full of idiots: DerMarr Johnson tased, arrested at night club From the sound of it, DJ's baby's mama and DJ's current woman got into it and he tried to break it up. But I don't know of anyone that's been tased for breaking up a fight, so take that for what it's worth.
