So Smith runs a red light and ends up in a crash that kills his friend and passenger. He gets 4 weeks in jail for his little stunt and serves his time. The media overlook the story because he's a minor player and well, all he killed was his friend.

What does Smith do after he's released from Jail? He proceeds to talk like he's a member of the bloods gang on twitter. Someone forced this idiot to take his account down yesterday, but there is no explanation, no apology from him. He seems pretty proud of himself.

The NBA has been blessed with a new generation of stars who have mostly been clean cut, Carmelo is the only major young star that's had his image tarnished. The league has worked hard to remove itself from the likes of Ruben Patterson. I hope Smith is out of the league soon.

I would say these new generation of stars are more aware of their 'brand image', they understand that acting like an idiot will cost them. I wouldn't say they are more clean cut than any previous generation though.

The funny thing is, I would not have the same reaction if Smith was an NFL player. The NFL would not suffer from what Smith has done. The NBA's image is much more fragile. Smith needs to at least deny the charge.

I should have named it: J.R. Smith expects to return to incarcerated status.

He's an idiot but he is cold though. Man this guy can catch on fire and light it up like any one else in the league. When he's on, no one can stop him. He's just another crazy dude that fits well into the nuggets with all the other thugs.

This stunt happened a few years ago. Probably when he was still with the hornets.

I try real hard to give NBA players the benefit of the doubt. I can empathize with an Artest or Josh Howard. But JR Smith is a chronic bonehead. Seriously, sometimes I suspect a portion of his brain is missing. The dude just doesn't seem capable of "getting it"

JR Smith comes from a rich and privileged family with a huge house in New Jersey...he and his brother both went to an upscale high school there. He is no Blood, no matter how many tattoos he wants to get or how many times he takes the letter 'c' out of his 'Tweets'.

He wants to be seen as gangster....JR Smith is a huge, huge poser.
