anybody else see on sportscenter that it wasnt a migrane that held him out, and that it was that he either wants a contract extension or to be traded? i know it wont happen but its worth dreaming for...
uhh hell yeah we do...i think we have some stuff to offer...maybe rafer, bonzi, snyder and a draft pick or something like that...i like bonzi and he is playing well right now but he is injury prone. If we get kidd stern might as well give us the trophy...the celtcis couldnt hold our jock strap anywho... 1.kidd/steve 2.mcgrady/james 3.battier/snyder 4.hayes/scola 5.yao/deke
sure it can happen... trade tmac and some scrubs[rafer included of course] for richard J. and J. Kidd. one fling 2 birds: we get 2 all stars, tmac reunites with his beloved cousin
kidd makes just a little more than t-mac at under 20 million. battier, rafer, and james would definately have to be included just to make the salaries to work. include snyder and that'd about right with rockets adding around an extra 2 million to their existing salary. another hurdle would be getting kidd to agree to an extension starting at near half of what he's currently getting especialy if the rockets blow most of their assets to get him. that's the major deal breaker/maker imo.
that worked out well. seriously, if kidds calling the shots then La, Dallas, and Cleveland are topping the list.
What is Jason Kidd's trade value at his age? Would a Battier/Rafer/Scola/Brooks/Head/2 unprotected future #1's package get it done? I think the only way something like that could get done is if he demanded a trade to Houston.
in a lakers trade i'd guess their centrepiece in a deal would be kwame's expiring contract. that won't get the nets under the salary cap next free agency so they'd be replacing kidd with whoever they can get for the mle. nets still have two stars on their team. they'll still have the talent to make it into the playoffs in the east. rafer and mj fills their void at pg and we keep on hearing how highly valued battier is around the league among gm's and coaches. mav's maybe... josh howard is byc, devin harris poison pill, dampier a bust contract nets would have to be extremely desperate to even poke a stick at. that leaves jason terry and jerry stackhouse. essentially their doubling up on vince and jefferson's positions at sg & sf.
I'm not a contract wiz but isn't Kidd a max player? If he comes here that would mean we'd have 3 max players plus we'd probably lose a couple of good players since Nets won't just give him up for our scrubs as I'm sure there would be other teams that could offer a better deal. Having 3 max players would mean we'd have a scrub bench. I'd rather find a lesser PG but very affordable for Rafer that won't cost us too much.
We don't have much to offer though, need something like Rafer+James+Snyder+Head+picks, but why would new jersey do this. Doesn't make any sense. I think Dallas can make much better offers and give NJ a chance to compete in Eastern conference.
Dallas can offer best package, but is Kidd really better than Harris/Terry combo. They might be reluctant to offer anything that Nets would like. LA is the next possible dest. LA can offer young players+picks. I think Jersey would like. But again, it all depends on if LA would pay someone who is 34 yrs old somewhere around 20-21 million a year for the next 3 or 4 years with a contract extension where there is no realistic chance of winning a championship. The rockets can offer basically crap with negative trade values, but maybe the FO will give Kidd the extension he wanted since we are desperate for a good PG and he will give us a chance to win championships. Who knows, I say we have a 5% chance landing him. Dallas 50%,Lakers 34%
Kidd wants to play with James in Cleveland By Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo! Sports December 5, 2007 Adrian Wojnarowski Yahoo! Sports There was no migraine headache holding Jason Kidd out of the New Jersey Nets' loss to the New York Knicks Wednesday night, but a superstar sending a message to a floundering franchise that he's irate with management and teammates, several league sources told Yahoo! Sports. As the Nets flew back to New Jersey late Tuesday from a victory over Cleveland, sources said Kidd already had decided he would be sitting out against the Knicks in the Meadowlands. Kidd didn't tell Nets officials until Wednesday afternoon, but several people inside and outside the organization were made aware of the meaning behind his sick day. Kidd's agent, Jeff Schwartz, isn't believed to have formally demanded a trade, but Wednesday's bold act could be the precursor to starting that process. Two sources said Kidd has been a constant text messaging partner with LeBron James since playing with him this summer on Team USA and that the Cavaliers are his preferred destination. "They've been communicating about the (trade) options that could get them together in Cleveland," one Eastern Conference official said. As one Nets official confessed, Kidd's absence due to a purported migraine was "very suspicious." No one wanted to believe he would sit out a game in protest, but that's how bad it has become between Kidd and the longtime laughingstock that he delivered credibility to. He has no history of migraines with the Nets, and with the way he traditionally has loved to destroy the Knicks, the timing of a walkout left Nets officials deeply disturbed. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-kidd120507&prov=yhoo&type=lgns In an act of defiance that has been building for most of this season, Kidd, 34, has grown irritated over his belief that the franchise no longer is chasing greatness while his chance for a championship closes. He called out his teammates two weeks ago in Utah, just days after his bid for a contract extension was spurned by team president Rod Thorn. Right now, the Nets are 9-10 and going nowhere. Thorn has praised Kidd for a "football player's" mentality when it comes to playing hurt, but the point guard privately is wondering how much more he wants to sacrifice his body for a team mired in mediocrity. So far this season, Kidd has played brilliantly for the Nets, second to Steve Nash with 10.4 assists. He performed with cracked ribs and a bad back a year ago, pushing the Nets past the Toronto Raptors in the opening round of the playoffs by averaging a triple-double. Yet Kidd has been frustrated with some of his teammates' inability to stay on the floor and play through pain, especially Vince Carter. These days, everything about the Nets bothers Kidd. Everyone had to wonder Wednesday night: Could this have been the beginning of the end for Jason Kidd and the New Jersey Nets?
