if we could trade steve francis straight up for allen iverson would you do it? the question is would you rather have iverson or francis. lets say hypothetically iverson loved tomjanovich and he didnt create any problems. hed always show up to practice on time and was good in the clubhouse. would you rather have francis the ball player or iverson the ball player? and im SORRY this is such a shallow pointless all-ready-been-done-before hypothetical topic. IM THREE YEARS OLD AND IM BORED OK!!!!!!!! SCREW YOU!!!! BACK OFFF!!!!!!

No. Francis will surpass Iverson in the years to come on a number of overall levels. He can shoot better, drive better, pass better, rebound better, and has the potential to definitely out do Iverson. Wouldn't even consider the trade.

There are only a handful of players I would trade Steve for. That nutcase Iverson isn't one of them.

two factors make me say Francis

    1. He has only played one season, thus more potential.

    2. Francis' passing skills are way superior to Iversons, actually iverson is a terrrible passer.

Right now iverson is a better scorer and better defender, if he improved his shot selection, he could probably stay ahead of Steve in terms of scoring, but that also relates to playing SG instead of PG. Maybe with a different coach or playing environment Iverson could be even better, or if he decides to improve his work ethic plus a whole preseason with Toni Kukoc could also make the Sixers a force and maybe that sniff of success will help him.

But all in all I'm going with Francis.

You are a pretty foul-mouthed, demented three year old. I say your parents trade u for a decent little kid. Even the Fun Police does not appreciate kids cussing and coming up with stupid trade ideas. Philly would trade us Iverson in a sec for Francis.

Cat how can u say Francis is a better penetrator than Iverson. Francis is better in every other aspect of the game except for penetrating.

Oh, and how can a three year old come up with the name Virgin Suicide?

If you think Francis can drive better than Allen Iverson, I'm afraid you haven't seen Iverson play very regularly. Francis is fantastic, but doesn't compare to "The Answer".

Nutcase? After reading reports that he doesn't show up to practice on time, you've concluded he is a nutcase?

I'm not sure I understood what you mean here. Lack of experience = potential?

Iverson is a terrible passer? Then how would you explain his season assist averages of 7.5, 6.2, 4.6, and 4.7 a game with nothing-players on his team? He didn't just stumble across those too, did he?

As for the question, I wouldn't trade Francis for Iverson simply because Francis is a much bigger player, thus I think he will be more durable during the long haul of his career. However, give credit where credit is due.

It's just my own personal observations from watching them play. Franics is larger, has great leaping ability, and has about the same penetrating ability that Iverson does IMO, and combining the advantages Steve has in height and leaping ability I personally think Steve is better at driving to the hole than Allen. Maybe I'm wrong, but comparing what I've seen of Allen (a lot) to Francis I would prefer Francis in that area.

I'm afraid I don't understand what leaping ability has to do with penetrating.

Also, Iverson is just as good a leaper as Francis. He's about 5'10, and if you saw him at Georgetown, he can throw it down with the best of them.

One main part of driving to the hole is being able to finish. A player with a greater leaping ability therefore has a greater ability to finish off his drive with a jumper. Maybe I'm wrong, and I know Iverson can slam it home, but I don't think his vertical is close to Steve's.

There's a reason Iverson averaged 30 pts a game before he started playing hurt. For someone without a great shot, he can score like nobody else.

I agree with thecabbage here: Francis is bigger, harder to post, and very likely more durable. I also hear that Iverson doesn't take care of his body. I actually think that Iverson might actually be better than Francis at his peak... I just think it'll be shorter.

In a different thread, I compared Iverson's success in Philly to Shareef's lack of it in Vancouver. I have to say that the way that Garnett and Iverson have made excellent teams with very little help amazes me. They're phenomenal... I'd hate to see Iverson paired with another all-star (though i'm not sure how you'd find shots for both of them [IMG] ).

nutcase is a strong word. But, at his best he is competitive. At his worst he is selfish, doesn't show up to practice, is moody, and isn't a team player. Of course you could say that about all of us.

If allen is 5'10" then steve is 6'1". Lets not get into this debate again. Allen can dunk, but without the authority of Francis. Allen isn't a creative dunker to me. I know it isn't part of the game, but Steve manages to work it's way in.

    Keep Francis...

it's harder for defenders to see past his heed.
