http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/kn...:+nydnrss/blogs/knicks+(Blogs/Knicks+Knation) Allen Iverson is on the Knicks' radar. Donnie Walsh confirmed tonight that the club will explore signing the former MVP, who parted ways with the Memphis Grizzlies. Once Iverson clears waivers on Wednesday he will become a free agent and can negotiate with any club. Is he a good fit for the Knicks? They are 1-9 and desperately need a scorer. However, the Knicks are rebuilding and there is a chance that Iverson's presence would hinder the development of Danilo Gallinari and rookie Toney Douglas.
Hayes/Andersen Scola/Landry Ariza/Battier Iverson/Buddinger Brooks/Lowry Solid 10 man rotation. If he can buy into the Rockets system, that would be great. Plus, we would have more reason to bench T-Mac's sorry ass for all the **** he put the Rockets through. The luxury tax is probably the only reason the Rockets won't do it.
iverson would be a great fit for the knicks. if larry hughes can have the numbers hes having this year then iverson could potentially have an all star year. the rockets will absolutely not sign him...morey already told bill simmons this summer he thinks iverson would kill our chemistry, or something to that effect.
rockets? really...we have no incentive to sign him, literally, none. He can't be paired with brooks bc that would kill us defensively in the lineup, and brooks is worth developing as he is younger and more of a team guy. Iverson just literally needs to get his act together or its going to be unfortunate to see a hall of famer go down the way he has. He talks about how he is not a 6th man and it is disrespectful. Tell that to manu ginobili, a superstar in his own right in euro league, olympics, and in the nba. Made all star teams, could've taken that finals mvp for teh spurs that one year, he has won it all btu understands that he is just as valuable and its simply a tactic move to bring him off the bench to hit teams with a different style and line of attack...its sad to see iverson do this but in the end of the day hes a high volume shooter, knicks would do him well in that case as a one year rental
Yeah, and if I won the lottery tomorrow, that would be great too. And I think the latter's more likely to happen than the former.
The only team AI fits into is one that plays defense well enough to cover for his deficiencies but is so inept offensively that his inefficient one on one moves are the best option. Unfortunately teams like that don't exist anymore because they suck. I wish AI would just retire so I wouldn't hear about him anymore, and I wish the hall of fame will make him a first ballot so everyone will see how big of a joke the hall of fame really is. Btw when DM talked about high volume scorers being overrated he probably meant AI, so 0 chance we get him.
AI is the Knicks wish come true. Big named scorer who will create drama for pennies on the dollar that will sign a one year contract.
Why? He should want to play for a contender right? Knicks aren't even going to make the playoffs. Would he even start?
If he comes here, we'll have the shortest midgety lineup ever. Brooks + Iverson + Hayes = Short stuff. I hate his game.
The Knicks will become a circus with AI, nothing more. It is sad that after a career like his, the only place he fits in is a circus instead of a legit team that has a purpose this season. From the Knicks point of view, I guess a circus is better than a funeral (which is what they are now). I think that franchise is getting what it deserves for tanking 2 seasons in a row.
Lol. I'm tired of seeing people think that AI wants to play for a playoff team. AI wants to play for a team that will let him play the game the way he believes should be played by himself. He doesn't care what system the team he signs might have in place, as long as he gets the ball in his hands and he can iso and attempt to score, that's all he cares about. AI is not going to change his style of play anymore. He doesn't give a rats ass about team but rather only cares about himself. The Rockets is the last team he would come to and besides neither Morey nor Adelman would want Iverson on this team anyways.
