When can we know whether Francis makes it to the All-NBA?

He won't make first team. I suspect that will be Iverson, Bryant, O'Neal, Garnett (or Webber) and Duncan.

He won't make second team either. My guess is: Mutombo, Garnett, Carter, McGrady, Kidd.

Third team: Robinson, Malone, Nowitzki, Allen, Payton.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be the LEAST SURPRISED if Stevie isn't on ANY of the All-NBA teams, DA BASTAGES! [IMG]

And speaking of Iverson, what do you think his legacy will be? I think you could make an argument that he's been the most influential character in the league over the past couple of seasons, especially from a style and image standpoint. I also think he's making the small G popular again.

Fourth Team: Stackhouse/Allen, Jamison, Marbury, Wallace, McDyess

At least Stockton didn't make it, either. Who ever said each position has a reserved spot for All-NBA teams? And do Pierce and Sprewell get screwed, too.

heyP, yeah I reconsidered and moved Allen up to 3rd team. A Buck will get in before 2 Mavs. Finley I guess would take the 4th team selection. Pierce and Stackhouse I think get screwed because they put up good numbers on sorry teams. Spree might make one of the squads, especially playing in a media market like NYC.

How in the hell did Mason recieve 2 votes on the MVP poll and Francis didn't recieve any?
They were 6th place votes but I still thought Francis should have gotten a couple.

I was reading the basketball digest, and they picked their all NBA first team with Stevie at point over Jason Kidd. Iverson at 2, followed by the rest of ya'll first teams. They had Kobe on 2nd team.

don't call me a Francis basher...This is purely statistical analysis, to include wins...but NOT potential....since NBA awards are not given out for potential. Why are Francis his numbers better than Marbury? except for the winning part. Marbury was 3rd team last year and All-Star this year. What, is he off the awards list now??

Isn't Francis showing us numbers of super-athletic playmakers in the league?...ie, poor ast-TO ratio with a great scoring ability versus having All-NBA type PG numbers. Do we really have this new-style PG statistics-wise; isn't Marbury showing better numbers for this much heralded new-style PG--many more assists; many less turnovers than Stevie. Right now, is Stevie more than a 6'3" McGrady? McGrady showed up with 4.6 assists regular season and 8.3 in playoffs, with less turnovers than Stevie. Kobe showed up with 5 assists. Finley had 4.4. Carter even shows up with 3.9 regular season and heading for 5+ in the playoffs. All with less TOs; all with higher FG%. All with 5.5-7.5 rebounds. Does Francis really make 3rd team this year given the plethora of taller playmaker/scorers all-over-the-court-type stars.

Marbury leads them with Assists. Francis leads them all with turnovers.

    Kobe
    McGrady
    Carter
    Finley
    Marbury

    then the MVP Iverson

Are we homeys for thinking Francis's super-athletic playmaking beats these guys out for that award. Are we trying to cheat the awards and say he is a PG, and thus can't be beat out by other athletic playmakers. Considering Kidd has to be included and Payton's numbers are not fading. Then we still have left off Sprewell, Allen, and Stackhouse (#2 scorer with no teammates).

what gives....I think Francis's high turnovers is what gives.

Francis made that team because they separated the guards into PG and SG. The "official" All-NBA team doesn't do that. They pick 2 guards, 2 forwards and a center.

heyfrancisbasher kind of has a nice ring to it... [IMG]

We all need to remember this is only Steve's second year, he won't be considered as one of the elite players in the league by the media until his team starts to compete with the giants in the western conference on a regular basis.
