I never thought I'd hear the day I'd hear Allen Iverson say something like this. A class (realistic?) quote : "We've got so many guys who are not going to fill Michael Jordan's shoes and Charles Barkley and those guys," Allen Iverson said Friday night at the Garden. "A lot of us collectively could stick our foot in that shoe. It probably still won't fit. But if we get a group effort, it would be all right for this league to go on and be successful." ------------------ Rocket fuel pumps through these veins...
I'm sure if anyone talks enuff, eventually something will come out of their mouth that sounds decent.
Yeah, but, but... this is IVERSON. He's usually so cocky and arrogant, I was praying Francis wouldn't turn into another him. Now I see Iverson saying things like this, I'm not too worried about Francis being a bonehead. ------------------ Rocket fuel pumps through these veins...
The boys on Madison Ave. are doing a good job with Iverson.PR baby, pure PR You think he really believes that?Allen's all about Allen. What he's saying is true though.
If it is pure PR, it shows Allen has got a little brain, you don't see the PR idiot Pippen say such things, who happened to have a feud with CB as well. [This message has been edited by Finalfantasy (edited December 13, 1999).]
I don't know if you guys caught this or not, but in Philly, the day after Chuck got hurt, he went to the area hospital. Well while there he saw Iverson, who was there to get his cast removed from his arm. Well, Charles told Iverson in his face that he wants him to carry the league - that he has the talent and he's playing in a tough city, but that he is good enough to pick up the torch. In addition, Charles said that he was sorry about the war of words the two had been in since Iverson had been in the league. After the talk, the two embraced and Iverson seemed very moved by the whole ordeal. Allen never really said much to the Chuckster, but in an interview after the encounter he did say that he was honored and humbled by Charles coming up to him and saying these things. He said that Charles helped make this league great and that he idolized him while growing up. He said that he was speechless and had a "lump in his throat" while being talked to. For those who saw it, it was a very moving scene. -Turbo
Thank you, Turbo. Very nice scene with an old and a new superstar talking about the future of the league. Sure, Charles is a good man who pretends to be bad.
Go Charles!
