It seems like everyone have forgotten about AI this offseason. His performance and behaviour in mem was disappointing but IMO he can still be a productive player. He still could play a contributing role as a scoring spark for a contending team. He used to be one of my favourite players and its pretty sad to see a great carrier end like this.

The problem is whether he is willing to come off the bench or not. Have anybody here heard any news on who or where AI might be playing for this coming season?

Players who don't realize they are not who they once were are awful on the court and off the court.

    Thread title is misleading.

Should read: "Iverson, washed up FA?"

Leave him be and let him get his life together. The last thing AI needs is the NBA and the NBA doesn't need or want him.

He's done. As one already said, let him get his stuff together in his personal life.

He doesn't or rather didn't want to. Let him be.

I don't think Andre Iguodala is a free agent this summer :)

He's done. Which is ultimately pretty sad. I've never liked Iverson's playstyle, but he was incredibly important for the NBA, and I guess I can sympathize for him to some degree - he's the closest I've seen really for a tragic hero in the NBA.

He got signed by what, three teams last year - and they all had to give up on him pretty quickly. Unless he found a magical potion this summer to make him and his legs 10 years younger, I don't see how any team would be encouraged to giving it another try after even his "home team" gave up on him.

Probably the only All Star free agent that can't even get the minimum. Crazy to think that he was averaging 26 ppg 2 years ago--guess father time caught up to him and KG.

He could be a role player, if he had the proper attitude, but he'll never accept coming off the bench. Foolish pride and stubbornness derailed his career long ago.

AI has some serious personal issues. From what I understand he doesnt really want to play anymore.

The dumbest GM in the NBA wouldn't sign him right now.

I dont think iverson refuses to come off the bench, I think he refuses to come off the bench while a clearly inferior player starts.

    Mike Conley
    Louis Williams

Neither have surpassed Iverson even at this stage in his career. Therefore he sees no reason he should come off the bench. If he jumped on the Lebron train and had to back up derrick rose im sure you wouldnt hear one complaint.

Early Happy Birthday, Allen Iverson. (turns 35 on Monday)

His game isn't near what it used to be. He doesn't have that sudden acceleration to blow by people anymore. Though he has enough and can still play IN the league.

His approach to the game is messed up more than his physicality is. Freaking LINDSAY HUNTER played last year at 40 years old. Derek Fisher is still contributing. Steve Nash is still playing at a high level, but he's a freak. Iverson isnt a total lost cause like Stephon Marbury and Steve Francis, but Iverson's approach and life still keeps him from contributing meaningfully to a team.

Thought he was retired, it's a shame. He was a great player and a lot of fun to watch. If he had learned his fundamentals(which I hate to say but, he would have got at practice) he could still be a number one scoring option, but alas he relyed too much on his great athleticism like T-Mac did. Both he and Mac could maybe be 6th or 7th men on great teams, but both of attitudes and egos too big to do that. Plus Iverson has all this off-court trouble. I wish him nothing but the best heading on.

What's more intriguing to me is where Tracy McGrady will end up this season. I don't think we'll see AI back on the court again...at least in the NBA.

Yeah same. I think AI is done. My guesses for T-Mac are ethier as a 6th man or 7th on a contender, possibly LA which would make sense, T-Mac gets to ride on Kobe to get a ring, and he doesn't even have to be that man man when the 2nd unit is out because Odom is out there too. Lakers get another piece for their bench. Don't know how he'd get along with Artest and Kobe though. He might also go to a team in need to bolster ticket sales. I think McGrady could very well go to China like Marbury, but think he could fare better in Europe or Israel.
