http://www.nypost.com/seven/12082006/sports/bad_answer_sports_peter_vecsey.htm hahahah finally!!!! now lets just hope he stays OUT of the west Iverson Asks To Be Traded 8th December, 2006 - 7:30 am New York Post - Allen Iverson went to team president Billy King this past Tuesday and demanded to be traded, according to two agents whose clients play for the 76ers. GM Billy King is attempting to accomodate the request as quickly as possible, according to two general managers that spoke with the Sixers' boss. "If you know your leader doesn't care, how are we supposed to play with the guy?" steamed a teammate to his agent. According to the same agent, Iverson reportedly told King he lies Maurice Cheeks as a person "but not as a coach." Mark Kizla of the Denver Post reports that a source informed him that the Nuggets are interested in Iverson.
Just letting you guys know that the original article is from New York Post's Peter Vecsey. http://www.nypost.com/seven/12082006/sports/bad_answer_sports_peter_vecsey.htm?page=0
Says Cheeks is overmatched as an NBA coach is like saying that grass is green. I started a thread last year "Philly is Burning" basically saying the same thing. It was just a matter of time before players gave up. Hiring Cheeks and trading for Webber should put Billy King out of a job. He has destroyed their franchise but all is not lost. If the Sixers get some value for AI and cut Webber during the summer, they could still make the playoffs next season.
If the 76rs take K-mart from Denver for AI, they are officially the dumbest franchise in the history of sports. Two broken down and overpaid power forwards - holy crap that would be pathetic.
there should be a question mark in the title of this thread. Not only is Vescey notorious for bullsh!t, but he's sources two freaking agents. There is no quote from AI. There is no quote from King. There is NO FREAKING QUOTE. The Denver Post link posted doesn't say he's asking for a trade. The only quote I see is in the Denver Post from today, "We've lost 12 of 14 games and, obviously, something needs to be done," Iverson told reporters in Chicago, after Philly was trounced Wednesday night by the Bulls. "There needs to be a change. Somehow, something needs to be scrambled up." Time and time again AI has denied wanted a trade. He loves Philly. I'm going with past quotes vs this quote-less Vescey "story."
This can be good news for both parts... The Sixers need some fresh and talented guys desperately while AI might become more of a team player in a better team...
Very exciting score...but word of advise, don't just randomly post stuff in random threads. This thread is neither about the Suns, nor the Nets...unless you think either of those teams would be a good trading partner for the Sixers - and personally I think AI would be disastrous on the Suns and an intriguing option on the Nets. In either case, there is a thread right at the top of this forum 3 pages long discussing that game.
man if they did a 3 team trade and we got iguodala for howard/bonzi/sura.... id do that in a HEARTBEAT. or maybe rodney carney for some 2nd round pick or something
Iverson for T-Mac...PLEASE, PLEASE Lord let it happen. We would finally have a guy with heart and who will play all out every night and attack the basket relentlessly. That would make me the happiest NBA fan in the world. Of course, if Uncle Les is willing to take on another max contract guy to have him join T-Mac and Yao, then forget everything I just said. Yao, AI, T-Mac...that's at least a three-peat right there, and it would finally enable T-Mac to become our full-time starting point guard.
