After much debate and constant pondering of the pros and cons on which job to take, I have accepted the job offer in Houston. As much as I dont want to leave Austin, this job gives me more long-term opportunity, and like others have said, is a job that gives me a good future. I have few pals in H-town and will be looking to hit the social scene, start a band, etc...... so I dont hole myself up in my apartment all day long and live like a hermit. Do you H-town guys have any cool watching parties like we do in Austin? Also, where are cool places to hang out, live music, and a damn good local record store like Waterloo here in Austin(I support local business as much as I can). Is Richmond still a good area (Its been years since I have hit the bar scene)? Also, I would appreciate some advice on where to live. My office will be located at Aldine-Bender and I-45. I am considering Midtown, Heights, Galleria, or anywhere else inside the loop. So any traffic issues going North in the AM and South in the PM will be somewhat eliminated. Plus I REFUSE to live in urban sprawl.... Thanks for all of the good advice. Much appreciated!
I think that's a great choice Drewdog and congrats on getting a job!!! I think Refman lives in a pretty cool place for fairly cheap, IIRC. When are you heading there? RM95's Girl and I will be there next weekend.
Gracias amigo. Yeah I was going to email Refman about a place. I think he said there may be some pads available. I plan on heading out there sometime tomorrow or Thursday to check out places to live. I should be there the weekend you are talking about. My cell # wont be changed for a while.
Congrats! There is a basketball gathering happening soon, and hopefully we can start having more viewing parties. I'm single now so I'll have few problems getting out more often. B
Drew, Congrats, and good luck. As for traffic if you work up North get a place downtown or just south of downtown, try to position yourself going AGAINST the flow of traffic in Houston, this way you have no traffic problems. DaDakota
Congrats DD, I live near the I-45 and Aldine area, you can get some great deals on this side of town if you're looking for a house. 10 minutes north of you is the 1960 area which has everything including sportsbars, malls and golf courses it is also somewhat family oriented. 10 minutes south is downtown, there you will enjoy the nightlife that defines the area now, live music, theater, restaurants and the stadiums. If you need anything, e-mail me at cop2comic@aol.com, my phone number is also available to you. Welcome to H-town pal.
You made the right decision. The Heights would be a good spot to live if your office is at I45 & Aldine Bender.
