Nude Jogger gets Nine Months Inside A nude jogger nabbed by police during his third run through two central Victorian towns has been sentenced to nine months' jail. Gabriel Romanos, 35, of no fixed address, was caught in Watts Road, Shepparton, about 2.30pm (AEDT) on Wednesday after he had evaded 14 police officers for more than two hours. Romanos pleaded guilty to six charges of wilful and obscene exposure and resisting arrest at Shepparton Magistrates Court on Thursday, The Shepparton News reported. Police prosecutor Senior Constable Ross Fifoot said that when interviewed, Romanos admitted to the offences and said: "I've just got a bad habit ... I've just have an urge." Sen Const Fifoot said Romanos had been witnessed by women and young children during his three-day spree, although he had not sought an audience. Romanos has nearly clocked up his own marathon of convictions, with 35 now recorded, including another appearance at Shepparton Magistrates Court in 1995. Defence counsel Anthony Coote said his client's last offence was two years ago, and the frequency of his nude jogging had "diminished significantly" since the early 1990s. He said Romanos had been psychoanalysed a number of times in the past three years, but no particular problem had been identified. "He is aware continuing behaviour like this will result in a jail sentence," Mr Coote said. "He said he believes if he had a female companion, behaviour like this would not continue and that is something he should consider when he gets out of jail." Sen Const Fifoot said Romanos was first seen on Monday, running naked down Toolamba Road, Mooroopna, before heading into St Mary's Primary School. Police had received a number of complaints about a naked man, and capsicum spray was used during Romanos' arrest, he said. Magistrate John Murphy convicted and sentenced Romanos to nine months jail with three months of the term to be suspended for two years. He said suspending part of the sentence would act as a deterrent.
