my problem is I either own what I want or can't remember the name of the song, and can only hum a few bars.

    maybe, Nena--99 Luftballoons
but not if I can someday remember the name of the other one I'd want first.

    sigh

My first purchase? "Basketball Jones" by Cheech and Chong. Other than being really funny, it has a really nice George Harrison guitar solo (!!!). I owned the cassette, and my tape player (two cars ago) ate it...

My problem is that an iPod holds 7500 songs. So is it supposed to cost ~$7500 to make maximum use of your iPod?

Buy the "albums" instead ;) Most are only $9.99, and have 13+ songs.

When I DJ'd at KTRU...I had a rating system on unknown Albums/CD that I reviewed (I usually reviewed some 2 dozen each shift):

    Yes
    No
    Buy

"Yes" was there was at least one song on the album to play on air, but the album as a whole was not that good; "No" was forget that album in its entirety, and "Buy" was to go buy the whole album for myself. I'd get like 1 or 2 buys a month (every 4 shifts).

with iTunes, I'd change it to:

    iTunes
    No
    Buy

You can put anything on the iPod you want from your own collection. iTunes allows you to buy a song but you don't want to buy the whole CD/Album. And aren't you allowed to play iTunes on your computer, as well, anyhow?

I still dont understand why all of you are using Itunes. You are wasting a whole lot of money. Why dont you just download from Kazaa or Limewire. They have better selection and its free.

    Heh...
This might be only my opinion, but there is no way that something like Itunes is going to be able to survive. The overwhelming majority of people use programs like Kazaa to download music. Plus, those users have the option of downloading vidoes, software(although that option should be banned) documents etc etc.

Why do you think it's OK to pirate songs and videos, but not software?

A single song is worth no more than 99 cents (see Itunes) but some of the software being pirated is well over $500. There is no way that this should be allowed.

What if someone decides to download 500 songs without paying? Wouldn't that be the equivalent?

Damn, those new Macintosh commercials are just as bad as the old ones where they had "everyday Joe's" pushing their computers...just embarassing.

Yes, but since there are millions of users on Kazaa, more money is pirated from software companies. Few people have over 500 songs, while many people have at least one software program.

Well, I might as well get the maximum value out of my 99 cents, so I'd probably get the original 14 minute version of Rapper's Delight by Sugarhill Gang...

So you wouldn't mind if I stole something from you, just as long as it wasn't too expensive?
