NOT! Cheer up guys. So the rockets aren't doing too great, oh well? We were terrible at the start last season and look what happened. Is it me, or are all the crap teams doing well, and all the good teams playing like crap? Don't worry, we'll get our step back soon. I'm gettin kinda tired of the "we're terrible, and we're goin down the toilet at light speed" posts. Things will turn up and someone WILL step up. Lets not lose hope. What happened to all that excitement and enthusiasm before the season started? 2 bad games and it washes at all away? come on rox fans...
cause thats what Rocket fans do ...they like to panic and start firing and trading everyone after 1 or 2 losses I fully expect the Fire JVG!! thread to be resurected in the next week or so ...heck we already have fans who want trades backs
Ya I hate hearing all that crud. Chillax, its the first three games. Rockets are painful to watch right now, but I believe they can learn to play without McGrady and win some games, so that when we do get Tmac back....
lol yeah, fire van gundy thread should start rolling around soon. oh yeah, and luther head with 7 points and 2 assists and 2 rebounds in 15 minutes? thats great to see our rookie taking the initiative!
I hear what you're saying, but do you remember what happened last year to turn things around? We traded Lue for JB; Jim Jackson & Boki for Wesley. Sura came off the injured list. The offense was totally revamped and made to revolve around Tracy. Will it take similar radical steps? If so, fasten your seatbelt for the ride. We weren't that good against the Kings with Tracy so don't assume everything is solved when he returns. With the schedule we have coming up, it's possible we don't even acheive 6-11.
And Tracy is hurt right now Are you saying we should break up this team because we didn't win our first game against Sacramento by enough points?
I sorta expected this slow start when our main player goes down. The only thing I'm worried about is Yao's play. This is the perfect time for him to step up and show the NBA world he's ready to take over and this isn't just TMac's team. Not even going by numbers, just his body language sometimes, it's disappointing so far. I'm not going to get into "He's not aggressive enough, he's not this or that" arguments but....he's not taking command and take it to the next level when I'm screaming inside for him to do that. Is there really a next level for Yao? Or is what we see right now is what we get for the remainder of his career? If that's the case I'll just lower my expectations and ease the disappointment on me.
Didn't watch the game. But I still believe in him. As long as he doesn't give up trying, there is still hope.
I'm not saying we should break up the team. Just pointing out it's possible we may need roster changes. I won't suggesting doing anything radical (besides sitting Wesley) unless we continue to fail after Tracy comes back. We must give this roster a chance to succeed before making changes.
Come on guys, we had the same cries of despair and concern after a week or two into last season. Give this team a couple of months. They've already proven that losing early doesn't really mean anything.
i'm really upset about our play and the fact that our newcomers and yao haven't stepped up in tracy's absense. there is no way we should lose to orlando and new orleans, but i'm still optimistic about the season. there are still 79 games, i'm not giving up yet.
It's not all cries of despair, it's the sound of a bunch of pissed off Rocket fans...we lost to a crappy Magic team...and to Stevie "Dribble off my Foot" Franchise...that's the last person I want to lose to...no matter if it was preseason, third game, or playoff game... I think we can voice our displeasure with our team's play without the sky is falling tone. I'm just pissed we lost and we looked like crap AGAIN for the 2nd game in a row...that's all.
Tell me you don't see the difference between this years Yao and previous Yao? Other than a couple of bad shooting nights, I think everything else about Yao has improved. His rebounds are not going to be great because he is being sandwiched all night long as opponents had no respect to our peremeter shooting (neither would I).
I think I will start right now lowering my expectations of Yao? He's a very good role player and that's about it. But will it be enough to win a championship. Right now I will have to say no, because Yao still does demonstrate the toughness that is needed to win playoff wars.
Maybe the improvements are minute to where I'm not noticing...except maybe his blocks, he is getting more ...BUT...I would like him to close out games better, in fact him not finishing off plays is what I'm seeing at end of games...
Incrementally, Yao is better. He will never be a great rebounder and fronting him will always be effective because he's too slow, doesn't jump and doesn't know how to seal players off very well. What I am starting to realize is that Yao's limitations aren't all due to his "attitude", "toughness" or stamina. Some of it is his lack of mobility, quickness and hops. By the end of this year (especially if he continues being aggressive), we may find out just how good Yao can be and it may disappoint a lot of us. That said, Yao will be OK this season. I'm not down on him. He is what he is and I'm glad he's a Rocket.
Wouldn't surprise me. Good teams play more team basketball which takes longer to 'gel' but ultimately wins. The offseason games help assess talent, but don't do much to get new players into the system.
Tracy will return. Yao is shooting 45% and that is bad? His shot will return. Disappointed he only had 4 boards especially since we missed so many shots. Wesley just sucks right now and Head is getting minutes much earlier than we all thought JVG would give them to him - and he is doing good for a rook and shooting 50%. Rafer had 9 assists and it would have been higher if someone coulda bought a shot - so he is doing his job. Stro is showing signs but is probably a Christmas present for us when he finally starts clicking with the JVG program. It could be Xmas before this team really jells again. This team does need an infusion of Sura-virus for the last 10 minutes of every game! "I am pissed and I am not going to let us lose!" Maybe some kinda drill by JVG led by JB and Howard: "Yao, Kelvin Cato wants your woman, now what are you gonna do about it?" and they show him some photoshopped photo of KT with his arms around Yao's girl. I'm sure some of the photoshop experts around here could help. "Yao, David Stern says in this stolen communique you are the foul-master and he has instructed the refs to neuter you every game! Are you gonna take it?" Or "Yao, Shaq says you can't really dunk, and even if you can, doing it once a game wears you out."
