I never watched the first movie. Never read one of the books. Never really understood or cared what the big deal was/is. And don't want to watch the new movie. So I'll join you!
For once, I am completely with you, Nomar. I'm definitely holding out for the next installment of Frodo and friends though.
I'm with you, although I don't know anything about the book or the movie or the guy. Seeing that dorky kid with the glasses just annoys me (I wear glasses myself, so all PC people, shut up, there's just something about this Harry Potter thing that I can't describe that bothers me).
You may not be a fan of his books or movies, but you have to admit he's decent coach. (And he coaches a team called the "Mystics" no less!)
Why boycott, it's for kids anyway. I never watched the movies or read the books but the Harry Potter phenomenon is great IMO. I was working at a book store when the latest Harry Potter book came out a couple of years ago and the scene was unbelievable. It was a freaking madhouse of children scrambling to get these books. I never seen anything like it. Anything that can generate this kind of enthusiasm for reading in children is ok in my book. Thumbs up for Harry Potter.
Man, when that first movie came out, I was all like fu** that bull sh**! People kept telling me it was good and crap, but I stuck to my guns and avoided it. . . that is until this week when I caved in a watched my friend's DVD. It's quite good, I wish they had movies like that when I was a little kid.
Read the Books Oski, they are even better than the movies. I can't wait until my kids are old enough for me to read the books to them, right now it's a steady dose of Dr. Suess.
harry potter's mom? if its true, it means that some man out there was so drunk that they... ugh, never mind!
The books are far superior to the movies. Trust me, I thought they would suck after reading Tolkien, Robert Jordan, Goodkind, et al, but although they're a little different from those guys, they're really well-written. I thought the first movie paled by comparison. There's no way I'm seeing that movie before I see LOTR, though. That's just wrong... I don't care if it's out first.
I love love love love the books. They're great. I didn't much care for the first movie, though. Mainly, I just didn't like the cast. The actor who played Harry seemed too old, Malfoy seemed too young (and short), Snape wasn't mean enough, and Dumbledore seemed like a senile old goon who spoke funny. McGonagall, Hermoine and Hagrid were good, though -- no problems there. I also felt like the movie was rushed. Things happened too fast without adequate explanation. I guess that's to be expected, though, since there's only so much you can cram into a two hour movie. So, speaking as a huge fan of the books, I'm really not all that hyped up about the upcoming movie, though I'll probably rent it when it comes out on video. ---- Still haven't seen LOTR.
I saw it. It was boring. I come home a watch the Rockets play on ESPN. The Rockets, you love them, they love you.
I just got back from seeing the Chamber of Secrets. Good flick. Light years better than the first one. Better acting, better action, better story. Kept my attention the whole way through. Branaugh was excellent as Lockhart. Go ahead and boycott this movie if you want. Call it "the tool of the devil." Call it "kiddy fare." You'll only be depriving yourself of a good time. While you're at it, why not boycott LOTR, Buffy, anything to do with the legend of Camelot (oops, Merlin was a wizard), Final Fantasy video games, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and pretty much ANYTHING to do with the realm of fantasy. Hey, here's an idea: why not go see the new Bond movie next week? Plenty of action, violence, and explosions for you there.
pssst! Hey, I think people are kind of joking around. Except for the part about that kid looking so annoying. Okay, carry on with lecture, part II, please.
