... we get Yao to the draft...
If he would have put great numbers in his first season ( as were expectations ) or if we get Jefferson ( and Collins and Armstrong ), the Rockets would have been more high in the standings, perhaps reached the playoff and never win the lottery.
    Thank Eddie !!!

But hope that you'll be back soon and show us what we expect from you.
    But i'm doubtful...

Good point. Going back in time and changing history is dangerous.

three other variables no one brings up is>

1.if the rockets had kept Kenny Thomas, then we would have snuck into the playoffs by 1 game, only to get killed by spurs, then keep rudy around for an contract extension and same iso iso iso dribble mania forever. Then KT would have gotten a fat contract and we would not have had enough $$ for the role players we signed this summer, plus Kt has been playing alot worse this year after he has gotten his money (thats what 76'er fans told me)

2.if the rockets had not traded for griffin, then most likely no yao,but also with jefferson and yao we would have snuck into playoffs and kept rudy, which would mean dribble maniz forever, and no improving, which means Yao would leave in 3 years

3.if the rockets had traded griffin for SAR or rashard last year, then most likely we would have gained 1 game to get into playoffs which means rudy stays around forever, and dribble mania would never go away, and the defense wouldnt be near as good as now

    steve/cat/jackson/cato/ming/JVG > steve/cat/shard/taylor/ming/rudy

    1. no one expected too much out of the 19 year old in his first season. anyone who did had unrealistic expectations. I thought Eddie had a pretty decent season for being so young and raw.

    2. Jefferson would be garbage on this team. He would have been called upon to take 3's, and he would be continuously ignored on the break as is Boki. RJ's game would not be elevated as it is on the Nets.

Besides those two points, you are right.

Nope, even if we get jeffersion (and Collins and Armstrong ) instead of EG, theoritically we can still intentionally miss the playoff and draft Yao.

Thank the CBA Sharks for postponing Yao's draft eligibilty for one year in order to win a CBA championship. Yao could've and wanted to enter the draft in 2001.
