that our team is becoming so consistant.. i almost miss the old days of unpredictability of .. moochie dribbling the ball franchise running the fast breaks mobeleys isos not knowing if Cato can catch the ball eddie shooting his ugly long range 3 pters 8 assist games with 25 Turn Overs
Why in the world would anyone miss that ****??!! 25 turnovers?? Dude, are you some kind of masochist? Not a good thread, not a good one at all....
hahaha.. sometimes, if its too EASY, then its not as FUN... you have to agree that it was pretty challenging to win with 8 assist and 25 to's A 220 pound PF that likes to chuck up 3 pointers that never go in A PG that likes to play 1 on 5 A backup center/pf that can not catch the ball a SG that is suppose to be a 3rd option that loves to ISO
I wouldnt say its boring though. I enjoy watching the brilliant plays and variety of options on possessions coupled with timely passing and talented shooting. I mean these guys are good but there is a lot going on that is making them look good. To watch just how Mcgrady gets that high percentage shot where he curls off a backpick set by Yao or Howard while coming off the baseline and how Sura is so great by selling it by faking a dribble to the right and having the perfect timing to go left again and whip a pass to Mcgrady at just the right time as he comes off the backpick. Stuff like that is fun to watch.
yeah I have to disagree with 49 I find our team much more enjoyable to watch. The crisp ball movement, fast breaks with little or no dribbling just pushing the ball up, the ball being whipped side to side with defenders scrambling to try and keep up. Outside shots actually going in, shots in the flow of the offense, usually open shots, good shots. cutting, moving, passing.. to think of it. A friend of mine mentioned that our passing is looking like the Kings.. Good ball movement, less ISO's and moving without the ball. (less turnovers) I dont know why we have less TO's.. better decision making? better ball handlers? anyhow we seem to take care of the ball alot better and im glad. J
lol yeah it is sorta boring haha jk I love the Rockets and watch them whenever I can..I LOVE THE CONSISTENCY. It's really good. I hope we get rid of Mo and improve at the 2/3 spot which is interchangeable and definitely at the 4 spot. I wonder how Sura is doing injurywise
First you try and get players (stars and role players) that like to pass as much as they like to shoot. Next you find players that have a history of low turnovers: under 2.8 per game, is a good starting point. This suggests that those players know their limitations; play smart. Then, you place those players within an offense that has PASSING OPTIONS/BALL MOVENT! That means, that every player has an option for the pass. This gives that player the opportunity to pass if he gets in trouble. You have to have players that move w/out the ball; which we do. And each and every players knows where those passing options will be and where their teammates will be standing for the pass; whether it be, cutting, screens, pick and rolls, backdoors, fast-breaks, etc... P.S. BALL MOVEMENT does NOT mean, over-dribbling! By the way, this doesn't mean that we shouldn't use the ISO. We do. It's just that we use it sparingly only when we have too; broken plays, match-up exploits, or last seconds of the game; or 24 second clock.
I kind of understand what you mean hikanoo. It used to be a challenge to remain a Rockets fan. Now we have Yao and Tracy and it seems like we waited for those teams to improve, but they never did. We don't have anyone from those days playing now. The challenge of being a fan is over. However, I'm not quiting on this team or any NBA squad named the Rockets... ever.
I think we dribble less, pass more and our passes are smarter/better protected. Dribbling is ususally where the turnovers come from. When the player starts dribbling and gets doubled, if he stops dribbling, he's locked at that position with two men on him. If he keeps dribbling, though, it exposes the ball to the defenders who can swat it away. We react to doubles better now than we used to. The moment a double comes around, the player gets help from a teammate, he stops and quickly passes. in doing so, he avoids the turnover and possible gets the ball rotated to the open man in the process. -- droxford
i understand the feeling. i was a bulls' fan back in its 72 wins season. it was kinda boring. you knew they're going to win every time.
