Wasnt Bonzi suppose to be a Spurs/Playoff killer, instead he was ranked as the worst SF in the playoffs, right next to Bruce Bowen, unlike Bowen however he didnt provide ANY sort of intangible play in fact you could argue he made his teammates worse. He couldnt hit an open jumper all-series, couldnt spread the floor, he couldnt defend, and he couldnt create for others, couldnt even dominate the boards the way he used to. To make matters worse they had to take on Mike James.

    Playoff average 4PPG with a TS% of .375, 2.8Reb, .7Ast

Bobby Jackson sucked just as bad, but he was never intended to be a starter and was miscast as an orchestrator of the offense once Rafer went down, besides he has a pretty big expiring contract this year.

Yep, the ideal NBA trade, where both sides lose.

I don't see how we lost. Are you implying that Bonzi was either (A)going to allow us to beat Utah or (B)could've been traded for someone who could've beaten Utah?

Not sure how we lost. We have cap flexibility from that trade.

we won this trade big time. this was always pretty clear.

unlike bonzi bobby was in a pretty bad situation. he's certainly not your starting pg and the matchup with deron williams is certainly not his best one. in the regular season he was pretty decent and he'll continue to be so until we trade him at the trade deadline next season. :)

This was a very good trade for the Rockets. I'd like to see anyone argue otherwise.

From the Hornets standpoint, they took on Mike James' contract and didn't get anything good from Bonzi. They definitely lost IMO.

I see this trade as one-sided in our favor.

    bonzi's days are done.

bonzi did everyone a favor by not signing the 36mil contract because we can clearly see he is not even worth what he is getting paid now.

and where is mike james? is he even on the bench?

Bonzi did spill ice on the floor. Had one of the spurs slipped maybe NO could have won.

Bonzi is better than bjax so we lost. They got to the 2nd round and we didn't.

Chris Paul has more winning playoff experience than Tracy McGrady -- winner, Hornets.

But it doesn't really matter to us... the Rockets weren't going to bring Bonzi back, they likely weren't going to win anything this year with him in a Yao-less state and Jackson has trade value one year before Mike James does. It hopefully will help the Rockets this coming season.

But I wouldn't kid myself and say we were big winners or something -- Jackson shot what, 28% in the playoffs?

We win because Mike James contract is off our books.

To me if the rockets were serious about winning it all this year they should have kept him. We all know that MJ=negative trade value so the Hornets and rockets felt Bonzi > Bjax. We still probably don't go anywhere w/o yao, but knowing we are not doing everything to win now is not good.

Agreed. But the true outcome will be decided come trade deadline in 2009. THAT'S when you should judge who won on this trade.

I agreed with you until you added the "their trade with us" part. Cap friendly deals are not sexy, but now we can be happy with that feeling resembling Christmas coming. The Rockets are due one choo-choo train of a player. Who are we gonna choo choo choose?

We don't even need a Gasol-esque swindling to get a player who would put us at the top of the standings. At least we don't have gaping needs that would require a Gasol miracle. Almost there.

that would've been true with or without the trade.

by the way, did you ever get my check?

We won big time, BJax has an expiring contract, and we dumped Mike James. Excuse me people, who would we have played when Rafer was out? All Brooks? Or do you want Luther at PG?

It wasn't like Bonzi actually helped the Hornets get out of the first round, so the variables are not even into play yet.

We will have to see this off-season or by the next trading deadline, if we won in this trade or not (or even next years playoffs).

Rox won the trade when they made the trade. Bonzi hasn't been effective vs the Spurs in years so there was no reason to think this year was going to be any different.
