With 5 fouls early in the 4th quarter, he throws a flagrant elbow, and the refs call a phantom foul on Wallace instead. 30 seconds later, he gets totally wrapped up in the lane, takes 2 steps, tosses the ball in, and the refs count the basket. As a make-up call, a couple of minutes later the refs called him for walking -- on water.
I totally agree. Those two calls were so terrible I almost turned off my TV. Did you watch the official after Kobe elbowed Wallace? He started the offensive foul motion, and then he just froze. You could tell he thought "oh no this would be 6 on Kobe". Then he just called a foul on Wallace because he was the closest guy to the ball. The next time down was even more ridiculous. Bonzi Wells wrapped him up completely, and then 2 steps and what seemed like an eternity later Kobe throws up a shot that goes in. There wasn't even any hesitation. The shot looked cool, the crowd liked it, so it counted. That's the way it's been with the Fakers. However, one thing matters- the box score. Blazers 96, Fakers 88. And also, did anyone else get a thrill watching Scottie school Kobe? I know it's Scottie, but I will pull for anyone to embarass these overhyped Lakers. Like I said, Blazers in seven!! ------------------
Will, Lemme see if I understand where you're coming from.... You don't like MJ. You don't like Kobe. Am I warm? ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem.
I'm sure Will feels the same way as I do. When I hear someone talk about MJ and Kobe, I think of one word first. It's not greatness. It's not leadership. Rather, it's cheating. ------------------
Yeah Mango, I guess favoritism would be a little better. Cheating is a little harsh, cause I don't think Kobe and MJ have gone out there with the intent of cheating. It's just the NBA's decision to bump up their low ratings by promoting teams like the Fakers. ------------------
Cat, Sometimes, it reminds me of Wrestling were everything is packaged as entertainment rather than a true sport. The NBC tail is wagging the NBA dog. Mango ------------------ Live long and prosper. Donate Blood!
C'mon guys, Bryant's been a starter in the NBA for almost 2 full seasons now, and has made 1 All-Star team...he deserves the Jordan treatment from the refs. You have to hand it to Doug Collins though, for having the guts to speak his mind. After those calls, he came out and said that "the Blazers have been the victims of some terrible calls in this game". Ouch Doug, that could cost you your job. ------------------ "Yes, I came from the 80s...but I didn't kill anybody. Nobody deserves calls like that. That was some of the most ridiculous officiating I have seen in a while. I think all stars deserve their calls at times, but that was terrible. ------------------ HOOP-T Hey Shaq, Acme called, and they want their bricks back!
I've gotta disagree. Kobe fouled out of the game. Therefore, he can't possibly be Jordan. ------------------ ?
It's funny, if you watched the ref's reaction after the foul, someone pointed out to him that that was Bryant's 6th foul. "Six!?", he exclaimed. "He's out", said the ref. The guy who called the foul obviously was not aware of the implications of this fould call. Look for a league investigation! ------------------ "Yes, I came from the 80s...but I didn't kill anybody. The refs have always been courting superstars and calling phantom fouls. Especially when a player gets blacklisted like Rasheed. ------------------ THE DEAN HAS WRITTEN
They don't call this league the NBA(Nothing But Actors) for nothing!! ------------------ We need some meat in the post!
