Newton-John wanted her daughter Chloe, 16, to appear with her in the movie, in which her character Sandy and Travolta's character Danny return to Rydell High for a 20-year reunion. But studio chiefs have signed Minogue, 34, to play the teenager instead, British newspaper the Daily Star says. "Kylie definitely doesn't look anything like her age and shouldn't have any problem playing a teenager," an insider told the paper. "Anyway, it's worked before because Olivia was 30 herself when she played Sandy in 1978." Grease was a worldwide hit. But Grease 2, starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Maxwell Caulfield, flopped. Original cast members Newton-John, 54, Travolta, and Stockard Channing, who played Rizzo, have agreed to appear, the paper said. "I had tea with John the other day and he is really interested," Newton-John was quoted as saying. "Grease 2 didn't work because they didn't use us." There was no indication of when filming would start.
There's no way that Kylie Minogue would work as a teenager. And both John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John are a little long in the tooth to be playing characters who are in their late 30s. This sounds more like a bad TV movie.
How weird. I just watched Grease 2 last night on TV and all morning long I have been singing "lets bowl lets bowl lets ...rock and roll!!!!" and "gotta back ....back ....back to school again". Damn those songs that won't get out of your head.
Dude what did you do to deserve that punishment. Actually grease 2 didn't work because the dialogue was terrible the songs sucked and the actors couldn't act or sing. If you notice excluding Michelle Pfeiffer, and anyone from the original Grease, none of the other cast members have been in anything noteworthy except for maybe some Shannon Tweed type cable movies and guest spots on Law and Order(and really, who hasn't done guest work on L&O?)
John Travolta should really just stick to the Look Who's Talking! "franchise." And for the record, Hollywood bottomed out years ago...

Isn't Kylie Minogue Australian? Ok, so how does this work? After graduating, Danny Zucko and Sandy move back to her native Australia? Isn't that bit of a stretch? I suppose it's not any worse than Hayley Mills with a British accent in Parent Trap despite the fact both parents lived in the US
T2, The Matrix, Forrest Gump, Independence Day, Saving Private Ryan, Tommy Boy - there has been some good from Hollywood.
