Congrats, Webb wins Va. AP calls it. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/D/DEMOCRATS_SENATE?SITE=KYLOU&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT
Time for Bush to get busy with his veto pen, he needs to dust it up first though, I don't think he have used it even once.
yall think stem cells could overturn the veto? i'd assume that 25-30% of the republicans would be for stem cells.
What I don't understand is, why do the Democrats get to use the independents on their count? I don't care at all really but I don't get why they get to count them and Republicans don't?
One's a Socialist and the other has been a Democrat his entire life. Odds are that they are going to vote Democratic 80+% of the time.
From our new Majority leader elect yesterday: Reid: 'Days of the Do Nothing Congress are over' "The American people have spoken clearly and decisively in favor of Democrats leading this country in a new direction. In Iraq and here at home, Americans have made clear they are tired of the failures of the last six years. The days of the Do Nothing Congress are over. From changing course in Iraq to raising the minimum wage to fixing the health care crisis to making this country energy independent, we're ready to get to work. Now it is time for Democrats and Republicans to join together and make Congress work for every American."
Hopefully that is all true. People won't be fooled forever, I hope this is the lesson Democrats learned from this election.
Got my letter of mourning from one of my Christian Republican friends already. She basically is calling it Armageddon, lol. I wanted to reply and gloat a bit, but the election speaks for itself.
Because both independents have already promised to canvass with Democrats when it comes to voting for committee assignments and chairmanships. Bernie Sanders has always voted with the democrats since his days in the house of representatives and Lieberman was a democrat and campaigned on the promise he would still stick with them. Both of them would lose the next election of they reneged on the promise to vote with the Dems.
Which might make it difficult for me to vote for a Dem for president. But we'll see...depends on who gets nominated from either party.
yeah...the pendulum has swung too far right. time for a correction. i think that's exactly what this election was about. but i don't want it to swing too far the other way, too. absolute power corrupts absolutely. or something like that!
