This sucks....it was announced that Ch 51 will be the home of Rockets game. I just got the Dish Network, now I have to dig in the closet and pull out those old rabbit ears again.
What about Fox Sports Net? Will they still carry any games? I don't know if I can do without that great FSN opening theme!
Guys, we must act now!!!! Everybody, somebody, find the email address for Ch. 51 and let's flood them with mail about the horrible reception we get.
Ch. 51 blows. The picture and sound of the network is below average. I've seen Astros games on Ch. 51 then watched other Astros games carried on KVC 13 in Austin and the difference is night and day. Also, Ch. 2 interferes with Ch. 51 (cable Ch. 2) on Time Warner.
I don't think we have much of a choice, none of the other stations want the Rox that bad, especially after last year.
Now this is real serious issues! I really hate the reception when they carry few games last year. iw onder if warner cable can enhance the reception a bit or should we all start calling the ch.51 station and let them hear what we think!!
Does anyone know how Ch. 51 stays on the air? Seems like that channel should have folded years ago after the all news format failed.
Where did u hear the announcement? can you post the link? I'm pretty sure they will air preseason games. What else have they got planned to air on those nights? Old re-runs of "The Happy Days"?
Guys, can we just go to Time Warner on this issue? Ask them to move it from channel 2? I think that's all that needs to happen to avoid the problems with channel 2. If they don't I'll cancel my digital cable, simple as that. I only have cable to watch the Rockets, otherwise I'm fine without it. Who else would support me in a Time Warner strike if needed? If enough people are willing to cancel their cable unless they move 51 to a place where it will get good reception, they should have no problem doing it. I'm shocked Astros fans didn't try to do something like this. I only watched a few Astros games last season on 51 because I didn't care too much about the Astros, and the reception was terrible. B

I think part of the issue will be resolved if Time Warner moves 51 away from channel 2. Does anyone else know how much of a difference this will make? B
The sound problems Ch. 51 has will never be fixed. Do they even broadcast in stereo? Moving Ch. 51 away from Cable Ch. 2 will only remove the distortion. We've lived with the dark picture of Fox SW so we'll live with Ch. 51. IMO Ch. 51 is no better than Ch. 55.
im checkin channel 51 right now and.. theres no distortion but the picture sure is bad.. its blurry and not sharp at all.. but i cant ask for too much.. I jus rather watch the Rockets on a channel that can be easily heard and easily seen. and HDTV!!!
Allegedly the only reason ch 51 is NOT currently in the local channel lineup on Dish and Directv is because of some kind of paperwork snafu. Does anyone know anything about this, and if true, if there is the possibility that they will have that problem cleared up before the season starts? If they can get their signal onto the satellite, then I will have no beef with the Rox being on 51.. BUT if they can't, and it starts out like that HORRIBLE experience when they tried using ch 55, then I am gonna be on PO'd local fan!! Maybe we can start hounding the radio shows.... Ciao
