I listened to the Rudy's show on 610. He pretty much said Boki aint good enough yet for any PT...he tried to put it in a nice way..."He doesnt have the strength..." blah blah blah...he sux during practice...lacking explosiveness....trouble defensively...
Boki looked damn good on the videos I saw of him. well...I just wish that Rudy would play him when the other guys are having a hard time scoring. I mean, he played 5min the other day and scored a quick 5pts...pretty good off the bench in that time, when the rest of the team was sucking.
Rudy really said those things? do you have some direct quotes? It's a shame our hopes were raised over an apparently wasted draft pick.
It took Hedo Terkoglue (sp?) a couple of years to become comfortable enough to come out of his shell. I still think that Boki will eventually fit in nicely with our rotation.
i know its a poor barameter but he didn't look that explosive in the few garbage minutes he got in the Sac game. Lets be honest here if boki was really tearing it up he would have more playing time
I heard this exact thing a few days ago. The problem is that Boki got left behind when he had the injury and he hasn't the time he needs to get into any kind of real playing shape. Thing that was interesting was that the Rockets consider him a significant part of their future plans, but not a real big part of this season. I still peg him as a Sam Cassell type. Cassell was the third point guard behind Kenny Smith and Scottie Brooks his rookie season but he broke out around the all star game and finished the season strong. I could see the same for Boki.
Boki can contribute right away like Yao. He had much more pro basketball experince than Ming and most other rookies. Boki should go back to Italy , don't let his talence wasted by Rudy.
Boki has looked at least as effective as Moochie Norris, Terrence Morris, and Jason Collier. Offensively, he's looked as potent as Eddie Griffin and Kenny Thomas (though it's a bit had to tell from his limited minutes). I don't get it. He can shoot. It looks like he can penetrate decently. Besides Yao, Cato, and Hawkins, nobod else plays defense anyway. When did that become requisite?
Rudy said on the radio program that the primary reason for Boki's issues was due to his hernia operation and the recovery. Said something to the effect that he lost a lot of strength in his mid-body because of it. Rudy did go on to say that they were really high on the guy.
Rudy likes to say positive things about players. There was nothing positive whatsoever in djkikcass' post. anybody have direct quotes?
I hope everybody knows that Mister Mean goes around randomly sucker-punching guys in the gut. From what I've heard, Boki has not dealt with this test very well.
I actually took Rudy's comments to be alot more positive on the radio program concerning Boki. The one comment that I remember distinctly from Rudy's mouth is that since the Rockets roster is so deep this year. He said that he is "treating this year as a year to grow and learn for Boki. Since the Rockets don't have any draft picks next year, he is treating Bostjan as the draft pick for next year, just with a major head start over the rest of the draft. " Whatever he said, it sounded pretty good to me and Rudy is looking towards a bright future with Nachbar as one of the pieces to the puzzle.
I could understand and accept if Boki is injured and/or Rice/TMo/KT/Hawk were setting the court on fire. Alas, the boki mystery continues....
if Boki hadnt played any games he atleast couldve beenn a ROY contender next year. then we wouldve had bak to bak ROY's with only LEbron James to fight off...
man the poor guy, his talent is getting wasted on the bench. Rudy says that Boki will be a big part of the future of the team...well...uhhh...excuse me but if I was Boki I would leave at first chance to a team that gurantees a starting/nonstarter role. where he would atleast play, I am sure there are many teams that would be playing him. I mean...Langi has gotten more min on his new team than boki on ours...
Rudy was *not* overly negative about Nachbar. The gist of his answer was that Nachbar had still not completely recovered from the surgery, and that only within the last week or so has he 'started to show some of the explosiveness we saw before we drafted him.' The caller ended by asking whether Nachbar would ever get some playing time this season, and Rudy answered "Yes. Definitely."
When Boki was out there on the court the other day, it seemed to me that, while he is very offensively gifted, he looked kindof lost on the defensive rotations. Now granted, it's not like the Rocks had a great team out there, or that the Kings were putting forth their best effort in the last 4 minutes. However, when I was watching Nachbar, he would sometimes lose track of who he was supposed to guard, and kindof float around in a confused-looking way. My guess is that since he's still not in the greatest health, he hasn't had the opportunity to get into these offensive and defensive sets enough to really get a feel for this. Kindof like Yao Ming when he first came in. By mid-season, I imagine he'll have all of the plays and such down very well. Also realize that last year, Vladimir Radmanovic (a player very much like Boki) didn't play a tremendous amount, but this year he's really looking solid. As much as we would love to see Nachbar out there right now, he's a luxury that we can afford to keep on the bench, saving him for the future. We are doing pretty well with Rice starting and TRock, etc. coming off the bench. Nachbar would be a nice addition, but we can deal with things the way they are right now.
