Does anyone have a membership at their local YMCA? If so, what location is it and how much do you like/dislike it? How much does it cost? I know they base monthly dues on income, but I can't find any kind of rates online. I'm looking to drop 24 Hour Fitness and switch to the YMCA to save money.
I can probably get you a code that well let you switch to a monthly plan. $24/month and no contracts. Valid for all 24 hr sport gyms in the US.
$46.50 with access to Sport and below. I might as well get raped by Yaozer once a month. (and I thought my thread title might have actually diffused some of the urge to post Village People cracks, but I was wrong)
I am moving to Kirby and looking to switch to 24 hour fitness... but the one closest to my place has ridiculous hours like 7 am to 5 pm or something like that. How many 24 hour fitnesses are not 24 hours?
Yeah, I kinda find it ridiculous to name your club 24 fitness and not be open 24 hours. They list the hours of each club in their website. http://www.24hourfitness.com/FindClubForm.do My monthly dues are $15 a month to any type of club. You guys don't ask for specials?
I used to go to the Y and it was close to $55 just for me per month. I absolutely hated it! Kids running around with their moms. Basketball courts were closed half the time. I paid $600 upfront for 24Hours for 3 years. That is like what $15 per month? After that its $50 a year.
damn! is that with a yearly contract or just month to month. i don't know if you've got the cash, but i said **** it, i'll throw down the money for 3 years. turned out to about 18/month.
Citywide Y Membership = 33.00 / Month That's because I took the paystub from that summer's part-time job. Even if I do not go the Y regularly, I DO NOT want to lose that rate. Houstonian, not including the joining FEE, is approximately 150.00 / month. Houstonian Lite is a little less. Westside Tennis Club, not including the joining fee, is approximately 60.00 / month??
Month to month, because I didn't have any money saved up a year ago when I just started my job. If I were signing up now, I would definitely do a yearly plan but of course hindsight is 20/20. I can easily afford the ridiculous fee while living at home, but when I'm in my apartment in a few weeks...not so much. But if the YMCA is $30+ per month I may just be S.O.L.
I talked to the 24 hour representative and he said if you're a UH student who only wants "active", they can waive your setup fee and you only pay $19 a month. I prefer to ball at the UH courts anyways, but we'll see how crowded things get when the semester starts.
That is on a month-to-month basis as well. CCR, did they have the special for UH students when you signed up? I don't know how much you save on "sport" but $46.50 sounds pretty high.
wow, you are paying alot for that plan. I pay $24 month to month for Sport and below. I got a deal a few months ago, and switched my membership. I had to input a special code though which I found on the internet. I signed my brother up for month to month Sport just a week ago, and the rates were $29.99, month to month with no contract. This was without any special code or asking for a special rate through an fitness advisor. I've even seen deals like $199/year if you sign up through Costco. There is some sort of partnership between Costco and 24 Hour Fitness. Check on the forums on Fatwallet and Slickdeals. There is usually some sort of promo code available once every few months.
Doesn't the Memorial Park have a relatively cheap workout center (by the pool)? Also, the University of St. Thomas has a recreation center. There is an ID desk with signs saying "EVERYONE has to show their ID card..." If you walk in like you belong, you do not need to show your ID and no one will stop you.
I have a membership at the YMCA, I pay like $75 (5) for the whole family. Personally, I dont like it, but Im just there to work out. Yeah it is very family oriented and in the summer the kids are everywhere. I may change soon. I go to the Clay Rd facility.
