It's for the good of the game that Yao is not officiated fairly

Think about it. The only way that these scrubs can stop Yao from getting position in the low post is to foul him. If they were no longer allowed to do this, Yao would put up 50 points a game.

It would be stupid. The game would be turned into a farce. Yao would just completely dominate and every big from the other team would be fouled out every game.

Hardly a good avert for the game. ;)

You can't penalize a guy for being big thats just r****ded. Yao dominating and dropping 50 a game would make me watch more.

So would I!! But think about all the poor Kobe and Lebron fanboys pouring money into the game who just want to see their heros pulling off athletic dunks. They don't want to see a big Chinese guy take over the league with his methodical brilliance.

No, no, best to use the officials to curb Yao's game altogether so he is less effective. Good move Stern.

    This is the truth.

It really sickens me that much of Yao's dominance is going to waste....

Yao would be like Wilt out there, then he'd trump all of Lebron's and Kobe's hype...this is a problem for the NBA ;)

I wish defenders were made to play Yao legally, with his free throw percentage he would average 30 a game and the Rockets would definitely be ahead of the Spurs at this point of the season.

So in other words, fouling someone is OK and shouldn't be called if you're incapable of defending them. Hell, new rule! Superstars are not allowed to have a foul called on their defender because their defenders can't stop them! Even better, just get rid of the league's best players as this will create the most watchable product.

Joke thread or not, this is stupid.

Good to see people get my point.

It's scandalous. If Yao was in the league 10 years ago he'd have much more dominant statlines imo

There are ways to defend Yao that are effective and not illegal....fronting for instance.

If Yao is not going to KONK people with his elbows to clear space, then the refs have to call it right.

Since this is YEAR 7, Yao should realize he is not going to get help...he needs to start swinging some elbows and taking people out.....but first ANNOUNCE he is going to do it....a shot across the bow to the NBA and other players.

And more importantly, officials and Stern.

I'm not saying it's right. Just helping people to understand why the games are called as they are.

i just love how they say dwight howard is such a physical player.
If they could just officiate him fairly, we would have the first comrade to ever win the MVP. That's another billion viewers stern!! $$$

I mean, the rim would still have games where it would play solid D on yao's dunks, but I can see 29 points a game easily.

I agree with the point, but I've never understood this from a business standpoint. You'd think the NBA would WANT Yao to dominate.

He's the biggest global athlete in the world. He generates so much revenue for the league that you'd think they wouldn't want to alienate all of his fans. I mean I know I'm sick of this b.s....and after the referee gambling fiasco, how can they so obviously discriminate against one player? Everybody knows stars get more calls...so why can't the most popular athlete in the world get a call and stopped being targeted?

you're an idiot, shaq doesn't put up 50 a game and he doesn't get called for what yao does, to say that he has an advantage, lets make it fair so everyone is happppppy!!! cause we are in 3rd grade and no one can have an advantage... a giant was our reward for a ****ty previous season, this is the nba, not some child little league

posted this exact same thing in some thread earlier this morning, don't remember which, but i said he needs to take a cheap shot, send a message, take the foul which will certainly come with it, but make people think twice about fouling you, take deke for example, he has made a career with them bos, everyone knows when deke gets the rebound, stay away...

Both the OP and DD are right.

    1) Stern does not want to see another Shaq like force dominating games under the basket. The majority of bandwagon basketball fans resent such players. In fact, I've heard a dozen times from such fans that the mere presence of Shaq and Yao in the NBA is simply unfair and that they should be banned!

    2) Yao should openly announce that any punishment he receives on the interior from opposing players (pushing with 2 hands, shoving, tripping, kicking, dislodging, slapping, hacking), he will return right back and with his superior force and strength. He should warn opposing teams via the press that their players risk injury if they continue to f#$& with him. Then he should stand by his words in the games - and endure whatever fines/suspensions Stern hands out. Eventually the media whirlwind and pressure from China will force the league to begin officiating him fairly.

So, you're basically saying that Yao doesn't deserve to be recognized for his god given ability and talent because it wouldn't be fair to dominate the league. You're basically saying Yao should have several MVP titles already but that wouldn't be fair to the game... That perspective is a little skewed...

Yes, Yao is great and the NBA is holding him back, i´ll prescribe you an Anti-Conspiracy pill.
