It's first now I'm starting to realize how ridiculously good Olajuwon really was!

Watching today's centers and then compare them to the old school guys and sure, it's not really that fair considering how much the game changed to a guard oriented game.

But man, we're all so pleased with Asik's great rebounding numbers and his defense this far a la his 14 rebound average and sure thing the guy has been great this far!

Then you start to realize how amazing Olajuwon was, like in '93 which was one of his best years he AVERAGED 26.1 points, 13 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.9 blocks and 2.2 steals.

I mean, where did the guy even find time to average that amount of points and assists while absolutely destroying everyone under the basket on the defensive end a la rebounds and blocks and also steals..

    LONG LIVE THE DREAM!

I mean, I've been a fan of his as long as I've been a Rocket fan which is since I was a kid.

I'm from Sweden and I grew up with the Rockets due having a dad who went to college at UH and who was and is a huge Rocket fan and I've had my Olajuwon poster in my room since I was like 5, haha.

His greatness has always been obvious to me but when you compare his stats to the elite centers today he is beyond elite in every single possible thing. Not only an amazing scorer but the rebounds he averaged during his prime along with the blocks, steals, points and assists... it's just mindblowing how sick he was and especially when you compare it to today's ballers.

This forum lives in the past more than the chicago bulls forum and Michael Jordan.

He's good no matter what era of centers you put him up against, even his own era which was pretty darn good.

It actually goes further than that.

Hakeem had SO many tools that modern Centers don't have. His post up moves were ridiculous.

The stats don't fully show us how good the Dream was.... he played in an era of truly GREAT Centers, many of who could easily be a top center today, and would school alot of the modern centers silly.

People point to Dwight but his skillset is a joke. If Dwight had half the skills of Hakeem, he would be FAR more dominant than he is today.

Can you imagine Dwight with a consistent skyhook? Dream shake? For old timers, it's really sad how far Center play has fallen...

The Dream was amazing and still is. Players continues to go to Hakeem for training in their post game. I never seen anyone with the type of post moves the Dream has. Its amazing how many moves and counter moves he had that its impossible to stop. That's why he's a HOF and top 10 in all time scoring.

The dude was 6'10 and moved like a guard. His stats only tell half the story, though comparing them to today's centers' stats is eye opening. Watching how effortlessly he moved around on the court is still jaw-dropping today.

No player is truly able to dominate every facet of the game today like Hakeem did then.

Calling Dwight Howard the best center in the game today is a shadow of the title when Hakeem owned it.

Too bad that The wide mound of rebound "Charles Bakley", took Hakeem's Thunder away.

Hakeem had a bad habit of always accommodating other elite players. He almost always deferred to others in all-star games.

Not really, been a fan for a very long time. Since he's been retired for close to 10 years it's easy to forgot how amazing the guy really was. Every Rocket fan needs to go back once in a while to check him out.

    And fixed.

    Hakeem ≠ Jordan
    Hakeem/Jordan>1
    Therefore,
    Hakeem > Jordan

It's friggin' math people. It cannot be argued!
