Why does this deserve a comment, per se?

    Lame as hell, Leroy.

I agree. They tv commentator was correct in labeling them as cyber terrorists and religious bigots.

In a city of over 1 million people, just a hundred people showed up.

    EPIC FAIL!!

I could have more people show up to rally supporting Michael Vick punching babies.

Its funny those protestors had to cover up their faces. It means they are ashamed of their cause. A true bunch of cowards.

Haha, no. It's because Scientology has a habit of suing the everloving piss out of anyone who is critical of them.

Way to go Mr. Brightside. I never knew you were such a good little Scientologist. :D

Don't forget the part where they hire private investigators to follow you around, you get harrassing phonecalls (check out the one they left the Damn Show), and they harrass your family and coworkers.

    Anyway...

Live feed from London: http://www.qik.com/anonlondon A good showing, bigger than Sydney, but the chants are weak.

Word has it some Scientologist in Sydney tried to remove some anon's mask and was pulled aside by the police.

Also, some top-level Scientologist sent word to Anonymous via a known-former Scientologist to keep up the information campaign. Seems things are a bit shaky amongst the Scientology corporation's execs and quite a few of them want to see David Miscavige lose his grip on the organization. A lot of folks feel that if Miscavige falls, the Scientology might finally drop its menacing, litigious cult personality and join the ranks of the "legit" religions ( in both pricing and social practice... [cough]Freezone[/cough]).

Supposedly, in the coming months, a lot more people who got out, like Jenna Miscavige, who was recently on Inside Edition, will be speaking out. Perhaps Mike Rinder will be one of them? That would be epic.

Ya'll are missing the point. Which famous Scientologist is Mr. Brightside.

After months of study my theory is he is Corin Nemec.

    So welcome Mr. Nemec!

Funny how you call the protesters 'cyber terrorists', when reports indicate at least 2 scientologists being arrested for trying to rip off protesters' masks while at a peaceful demonstration?

Who are the violent ones again?

    Unofficial headcount so far:

Apparently Rolling Stone Magazine may be interested in doing a story. I read something about some celebrities possibly showing up for the one in LA I believe (Martin and Charlie Sheen, Tim Robbins, maybe more?), but I'm not sure where that came from. Guess we'll find out more on that soon.

I was just driving down Guadalupe here in Austin and there was a good 100 people or so protesting outside the church of scientology here.

Mr. Brightside, are you a scientologist? Please, tell us all what it is that is so great about scientology that you feel the need to keep showing up in these threads.

scientology is the organization hunting down any and all criticism of themselves w/ their army of lawyers. Sounds cowardly and shameful to me. They don't even face 1% of the criticism that the Catholic or Muslim religions receive, yet you don't see free discussion of them being shut down left and right.

As an aside, I find the adopting of the word 'science' in the name of this religion...kind of selfish and quite frankly misleading. Science has brought humankind many great things, neutral of religious belief. Why drag it into something it should have no relation to?

But hey, whatever your deal is, more power to you. Seriously. As long as you do unto others as others do unto you.

I myself will stick to singing along w/ the hymns of Rick Astley.

Awesome. I thought the church got their dirty hands on something as harmless as this.

How's OT7 coming along there, Mr. Brightside? I find it impressive how you are able to cope amongst such a large community of SPs.

    Another good one:
    <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/kEUldKrviIM&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/kEUldKrviIM&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
A few other ones it seems (including other situations where Scientology got Rick Roll'd in other cities).

The city of Atlanta seemed to think it was necessary to send out a SWAT team for the protest:
    <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/L7AzcPjjkzU&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/L7AzcPjjkzU&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

I updated my earlier post. The headcount is now at ~7500 people (and ~100 raids), which is a bit conservative I believe since it is just peak numbers. It seems like a bunch of local news stations reported on this (some good reports, some not-so-good reports), seemingly achieving the goal of "spreading the word" about Scientology (see Google trends for Scientology, Lisa McPherson, etc.).

A decent rundown of all the day's protests (info, pictures, etc.):
