Who's in better shape, the Bulls or the Rockets? The Bulls of course because they chose to tank. Two years of sucking got them 3 lottery picks when the Rockets got second round material. The Bulls are about to sign Tim Thomas for the max leading me to believe that Marcus Fizer is gone for a center. I made a post saying that we should trade Cato for him but let's say they trade him somewhere else and get a very good center. Their lineup is way better than ours if that happens C very good center for Fizer PF Brand SF Thomas SG Artest PG Crawford compared to us C Cato PF Thomas SF Williams SG Anderson PG Francis Their center would be pretty good and probably better than Cato. And Brand definitely has the edge against Thomas. Williams is streaky and aging while Thomas is a young talented player. Edge Chicago. Our backcourt definitely takes the edge but they have a decent one to start with. So I give the edge to Chicago in the frontcourt and Houston in the backcourt giving Chicago the overall edge. In the long run I like Chicago more because all their players have the potential to be All-Stars or very good while Kenny Thomas or Kelvin Cato will never be All-Stars and Walt Williams is getting old. And then look at our backups in the frontcourt and all you see are Matt Bullard wannabes. Chicago is definitely in better shape and in the long run will be better especially with another top lottery pick while we get the 8th or 9th pick and get mediocre talent in return. Trade them Kelvin Cato for Fizer and you completely change my mind. That's how close it is between Chicago and Houston. One great trade for us and a questionable one for them swings the edge. In my opinion they should get more for Fizer but might just settle for Cato for some reason or another. Either way, I see them trading Fizer and both of us in the lottery next year. ------------------
We have better depth, especially if Mobley stays. ------------------ WE WILL WATCH THEM FALL... Next year
You are correct about that Anti, but the Bulls continue to get great players while we get mediocre white boys. It won't be long before Chicago eclipses Houston in talent. If Mobley leaves then our depth is shot. When you think about it we have no good big men. If you think Kenny Thomas is the answer at PF or Cato at C then you're delusional. But right now yes we do have some depth, but Chicago is building it self a better starting five and that is what matters. The bench does need to be good, but they play about 1/4 of the game combined if that and if their starting five are dominating the other 3/4 of the time then they will come out on top. If Mobley leaves I think Steve and Shando will prosper more but probably be hurt in the long run. So all-in-all I hope Cat stays and we trade for Fizer. ------------------
I beleive the bulls will still have some of cap room remaining even if they do sign Tim Thomas to the max. They'll likely be saving that for next off season along with the 4.5 mil. of cap space they will get when Hershey Hawkins is a free agent. If everything goes as planned they could get Michael Finley(who's from Chicago) and "Baby Shaq" Eddy Curry with their high lottery pick. You could be looking at a 2002 Bulls lineup of: C:Eddy Curry -Potential Superstar PF:Elton Brand -Superstar SF:Tim Thomas -Potential Superstar SG:Michael Finley -Superstar PG:Jamal Crawford -Potential All-Star with a bench of: Marcus Fizer Ron Artest Cory Benjamin AJ Guyton Khalid El-Amin Dalibar Bagaric Laugh now, but the Bulls could be title contenders in a few years. But that's only if everything goes as planned which probably won't happen. ------------------ You ain't gotta like me, you just mad cause I tell it how it is, and you tell it how it might be.
Problem is the Rockets' string of mediocrity does not seem to be coming close to an end. Mobley leaving is going to have a big negative impact, but we probably won't draft any higher next year, because Hakeem is going to play better. Then, Hakeem will leave, and we'll be back to mediocrity again. I don't know what kind of luck we'll have in the FA market next year, but I don't see any reason we'll be the big winner. ------------------
I just hope we don't become the Celtics or something. Jeez, they've been stuck with 30 win seasons for how long now? ------------------ Who's ya daddy?
It sure looks like Chicago is going to be strong next year..............On paper. Haven't you people realized that talent does not equal victories. Their organization sucks. The Jerry & Jerry show is a joke and all of the players know this. They hava had back to back cellar seasons. We turned our whole roster over and still managed 34 wins. Just because a player was lotto pick does not mean he will pan out. Here is my solution. If you want to SUCK then you can go hang out at a bulls sight. ------------------ "Stranger things have happened, but none stranger than this" - Commentator after a parachutist landed in the ring of a Holyfield fight
Talent doesn't equal victories but it sure does help. ------------------ You ain't gotta like me, you just mad cause I tell it how it is, and you tell it how it might be.
I still think the Rockets are better off than the Bulls. And I don't know what "very good center" the Bulls are going to get. It sounds like they want O'Neal, who isn't much better than Cato. And after that? There isn't much quality left in Centers. Brand and Thomas(if they get him) are better than Walt and KT, but Francis and Shandon are better than Crawford and Artest. Cato is better than any center the Bulls are going to scrounge up. I really think the Bulls haven't done so well improving their roster given how much they had to suck to get there. ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate.
Tim Thomas 99'-2000 season stats GM - 80 1 Min - 26.2 FG - 347-753 FG% - .461 3pt - 63-182 3pt% - .346 FT - 188-243 FT% - .774 REB - 4.2 ASST - 1.4 STL - 59 BLCK - 31 TO - 129 PF - 227 PTS - 945 Avg. - 11.8 Sucking for two years would be totally worth it if we could ever land a player with these amazing stats. Better yet letr's pay him the max so we can somehow lure his underachieving back-up center friend from Portland to come and play for the max. Sounds like a recipe for a championship to me. Damn that Rudy for sticking us with this competitive team while he rebuilds with talented, albeit white players. Damn him all to hell! ------------------ "Stranger things have happened, but none stranger than this" - Commentator after a parachutist landed in the ring of a Holyfield fight [This message has been edited by Rocketsauce (edited July 23, 2000).]

If it's better to suck than be mediocre, I can see how getting Najera might help us. ------------------ A little bit better than I used to be
