http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Bryant_shows_off_MVP_form_whil-304538-34.html RON ARTEST (On his shooting) “It was not a bad shooting night. However I played is the way I want to be judged. I will take the good with the bad. It was a Ron Artest night.” What the hell does he mean by that's the way I want to be judged ? It sounds like he knows when he's going a bit nuts and is just putting on a show out there. Also, it was not a bad shooting night, are you kidding me ???? 0-8 from three ? This guy threw away the game almost single handedly and says it's okay ? Really strange since most of the times he takes responsibility for a loss, even when he doesn't have to.
It think he's trying to not make the excuse, "it was just a bad shooting night." He played poorly, and he's willing to accept that criticism directly.
Exactly. Some people really try to read to much into quotes. And are willing to see the negative in everything.
Exactly. He played badly and he knows it, and expected to be judged poorly based on that performance. He's also noting that these nights happen. I mean, come on, the guy's been shooting 55%+ the last few weeks, and now people are thrashing him for finally having an off game. I don't know if this is just folks that climb on and off the bandwagon or the haters finally coming back out of hiding, but it's ONE GAME.
nobody's trashing him b/c he had a bad game. bad games happen to everybody. nobody's god. it was "how" he had that bad game. if he kept playing his normal self and missing shots within the offense (the same shots he took in previous games), i'll accept it. that means if he got those same shots next game, he'll knock them down. the fact that he forced 2 straight possessions going at kobe (1 missed shot and TO) and ignoring everybody is "the bad" ron. that's the "bad" ron that we don't want. we want the ron that stays on the perimeter, knock down spot up Js, don't try to create too much, post up when its there, and play D. but when the "bad" ron comes out, he feels he's the best player in the L. we don't want that.
Saying "it was a bad shooting night" is an excuse. "Well, we should have won, but my shots were just a bit off. We'll get them next time." Ron's saying no excuses. "I didn't play great, but it was me out there, I was the one playing, I am Ron Artest. If you lost, you lost, you can't go back and say we're really better then them because we executed better but just didn't finish." etc, etc.
This is probably the 3rd-5th time he pulls the whole "I'll take sole blame for the loss" act. I'd rather have him stop apologizing and fix the mistakes he keeps making over and over again.
You guys are either r****ded or illiterate. He's not apologising, he's doing the exact opposite, pretty much every other player would look for excuses such as "a bad shooting night", "injuries" or whatever. Ron's just saying to all the critics out there that he's NOT apologising, that he'll take all the critiques they throw at him.
You know how we call the Lakers the Los Angeles Kobes when Kobe hogs the ball? Yea, Wednesday night was the Houston Artests in that 4th quarter. Except when it turns into the LA Kobes they usually WIN .
Ron is a very competitive person, but he also doesn't listen to what anyone else thinks...which is why he is a good, but not GREAT player. He doesn't learn quickly....or not at all. DD
Exactly, I cannot believe how people do not get the point. I just stated that he used to own up to a loss, now when he actually is mostly responsible he doesn't !!
