Thinking about putting a long sleeved shirt on underneath my t-shirt. Then again, it warmed up to 32 below zero. :D

My gf is from Anchorage originally. She has a friend in North Pole (not too far from Fairbanks). I was talking to him on AIM the other day. He said it was -50 or so and the schools weren't even closed!

Tell me about it, I have to walk to class in this stuff. It's actually not so bad so long as you have the right stuff for it, but it does get old pretty fast. Having a remote starter on my truck is a big help since I don't have to go outside and start it half an hour before I go anywhere. Fortunately it's late enough in the year that this is bound to be our last cold snap of the winter. I am moving to Anchorage in the spring, I'll definitely be looking forward to the nicer winters there.

    Wow.

Coldest I ever experienced was only about -33. Fun plugging your car in, eh?

It's (+) 34 degrees out right now and I can't stand it. I don't know how any human beings tolerate anything lower than this.

There was a small college down the street from me. When I would be driving to work, -30 degrees, they would be walking to class in coats ... and shorts.

Last winter, before I got autostart on my truck, I would run out every morning to start it in a t-shirt and shorts. It was a hell of a way to wake up.

WTF is wrong with you some of you people? Going out in shorts in -30 degrees?!?!?!?!

Is that even possible? I thought one would probably become ice if you ever stepped out into that kinda weather. You know, like a video game.

It was like 40 degrees in Houston today and I was freezing my ass off.

Bet your teeth were chattering by the time you got back inside; mine used to throwing the trash. By the time I got inside, my glasses would have fogged-up ... and iced-over.

I did that one morning when it was 56 below zero...turned around and went right back inside and stayed there for the rest of the day.

Where did you live that it got so cold?

Just like the summers in Texas, you get acclimated. This time of year I start to feel hot when it gets into the 20's above zero. I always feel like I'm going to die when I go back to Houston in the summers.

I know all you Houstonians are going to flame me for this, but I'll take subzero in Fairbanks over 100 degrees in Houston for this reason: Provided you have the right clothing, you can dress for cold weather and still be comfortable. If it's 100 degrees with 60% humidity, you can't do a damn thing about it besides sweat your ass off.
