How much does it pay? When I finally get the hell outta school this is the kind of position we tech mgmt majors are expected get.
Well I can forward that email so it get outs to students graduating from Texas A&M with a technology management degree (IT director). I am not sure if they send em out to the alumni but you are guaranteed the December graduates. Let me know if interested.
If you think you are going to join the IT workforce straight out of college and get an administrator position, you are in for a rude awakening. Degree or not, just about everyone has to work their way up. Experience is king in the IT field.
big is this a fulltime or contract position? If you can give me a ballpark of how much it pays, I can pass it along. I'm more specialized on the web infrastructure side so it's not something I would personally be interested in.
I'll have to agree here. The stuff you learn once you join the workforce, even as an entry position worker, is so much more in depth than anything learned in school.
And a great way to get this experience is to get a job doing IT work for your University while you're in school. I did this, and I ended up doing UNIX work in college, which gave me the experience for real employment later on.
You guys posting about experience VS degree just aren't informed about the program I am referring to. Sorry I didn't explain. Graduates are required to perform 400hrs of internship work in the IT field. With a real company. These students get hands on experience before they graduate and are coveted by employers from all over Texas. A couple of the classes involve case study work of an IT specialist, observing him/her while they are doing their job. Many (if not most) students hold computer oriented jobs (like bejezuz mentioned). TAMU realizes how important experience is in this field, thats why they incorporated it into the program...
400 hours!!! Wow, I was wrong. 10 weeks of internship experience makes all the difference! Oh wait, no it doesn't. Trust me rook, everyone in IT has to pay their dues.
So true.. That kind of experience maybe good enough for a help desk position where you take incoming phone calls and open tickets
