As much as I love Vince Young and think he changes the game more than any player I have ever seen in college football, I have to give Reggie Bush his props. The guy is incredibly fast, and he DESERVES the Heisman..... Perhaps Vince can come back and win it NEXT year. DD
I agree Reggie will get it and deserves it. I also think VY would deserve it if he got it. He won't though. What I don't agree with is comparing Reggie Bush to Gayle Sayers like ABC/ESPN are doing. It's mind-blowing to me. That being said...I wonder if we'll be looking at the NFL in a couple of years and counting how many stars played in the 2006 Rose Bowl (much like they count how many NBA rookies this year played in the last Championship game).
I thought about that too. The Rose Bowl could have more future pro players than any other bowl in the past. Hell, between Vince, Reggie, and Leinhart you've got the 3 best players in the country.
Reggie Bush is an amazing talent. Even when they tackle him, he's still getting 5 yards. The only time UCLA stopped USC was when they decided to throw the ball.
This is my hope: In the Rose Bowl, after RB carries the ball 18 times for 36 yards, in a 49-28 Texas win, he's asked: "are you going to give the trophy to Vince Young?" I'd pay to see RB squirm, after that...
Keep in mind that all of these USC players played in last year's national title game, and 10 OU players got drafted just last year (not to mention the current OU players that will get drafted). That will be pretty hard to top. That said, the top-level skill-position talent might be as high as any game in recent memory.
Eh. if RB averages more than about 7 ypc, I'll be utterly stunned. That's not to say he's not a fantastic player, because he clearly is. And that's not to say he isn't a worthy Heisman winner - he is. I think this is the first time - in several years - that we've had two players who "deserve" the Heisman. Both were on undefeated teams, both defined their teams, both were exceptional statistically, and both had plenty of "WOW!!!" moments. Reggie Bush will win the Heisman because: (1) he was invited to the presentation last year, (2) he peaked at the right time, (3) his team won the title last year, and (4) there's a certainty that he'll go pro, whereas voters can compensate Vince next year (if he truly intends to return) if Vince happens to be the slightly better candidate. Saying that RB will dominate Texas is idiocy. Saying he won't is idiocy. These are two fantastic teams that both deserve to play for all the marbles. But as a Texas alum, I'd take enormous satisfaction from watching RB win the Heisman, as the annointed one, and then get outplayed by Vince in the title game. That's one of the most uncomfortable situations you can possibly have - where the voters clearly see that they screwed up. Remember Hakeem in '95 when David Robinson got annihilated? That was exhilarating from a Rockets standpoint...
IC2000, Where do you go to school that you are such a UT hater? How can you not look at UT and see a GREAT college football team. There are 2 undefeated teams this year, and both are great.....but whichever one loses the national championship game will still have had a great year. Vince Young is going to be playing and playing well on Sundays, as are Reggie Bush and Matt Lienert..... There will be TONS of NFL talent on that field....on both teams... I just don't get your hating....it makes no sense.....just enjoy that we have 2 great teams, and only 2 great teams in college football this year.....how refreshing is that? DD
You and bigtexxx should go cry in a corner together or something. Owls and Aggies love to hate what they can never have...
Like a broken record... You remind me of a child who's deprived of their favorite toy. Nothing but whine, whine, whine...
NEVER have i ever said UT was not a great team. They are for sure. I can't wait for the game. I am not biased towards UT, i give them credit all the time. I think Vince is overrated.
UT will mercilessly crush USC, the Legend of Vince will be complete, he will decide to declare for the NFL draft, in which the Texans get to select him and then go on to win the Superbowl. He will make Houston proud.
You know, I tried intelligent discourse with you. I even tried facts and stats. I give up now. Rather than waste my time with an obvious attention w****/troll, I'm just going to respond to your posts with patronizing pictures instead. Yeah, that's right. I'm officially lowering my standards. Funny pictures make VesceySux laugh! Ring! Ring! Uh, oh! It's for you, IC2000! IT'S THE BANANA PHONE!!! ROFLcopter!!!
