It's already come out that the leader of the strike met with Trump weeks ago behind closed doors, and has refused to meet with Biden. It's also days after a devastating hurricane hit where supplies are needed ASAP, and it's hurting real people.

Basically... if the media does their job here then the PR for this fiasco will bite the port worker leadership in the butt. The timing is sus and some would argue immoral. Reeks of political backroom wheeling and dealing at the cost of Americans which is what people hate about politics more than anything.

If Biden's admin has any more insights on what this clown is doing behind closed doors, and his ties to Trump they need to rake this guy over the coals, and the media needs to do their damn job as well. Based on what has already come out I'm guessing this wont hurt Harris too much, but its just another excuse for those who want to come home to Trump to come home if people see any sort of bad news about the economy... even though this is surely BECAUSE of Trump.

The port strike could be considered an October surprise especially if it drags on for the whole month.

 

I thought the October Suprise was going to be cease fire between Palestine and Israel.
I missed on that one.

I thought it would greatly help the Harris ticket.
The pro-Palestinian folks here in the USA would be happy they were no longer under attack, and that the pro-Israeli folks would be happy that it is over as well.

As of now, I have no idea how these groups will vote. Or if the number is large enough to make a difference.

I will say, listening to the head of the Longshoreman's union. This dude sounds like no joke.
The question to me is, if this strike or mandated cooling off period runs through the election who in office or running for office gets the votes.
I was at a food show yesterday and one of the breakout sessions was the potential impact of the strike. they were saying 40% increase in imported goods such as coffee, seafood, European canned items like capers, roasted red peppers, and south American produce.

So, when folks get mad about rising prices, do we blame the current administration or not?

 

An Israel Palestine ceasefire think would be one of the least likely surprises. Neither side is showing any interest in it and as of now Israel and Iran are ramping up strikes.

As I said in the other thread this is endless war.

For the dock strike if it drags on this will hurt the Harris campaign. As she is tied to Biden who has talked a lot about his union ties this will also reflect on the Harris campaign.

I haven’t followed this issue closely so I haven’t seen interviews with the union officials.
