I have never really followed Most Improved Player awards, but after tonight, this guys HAS to be in the conversation. Has any player in the league come farther and from as far *down* as Rafer had to be before this season even began? Maybe Adelman was exactly what he needed, and maybe this is just who Rafer is, and who he is going to be from now on. I could live with that.
I'm with you on that one. I can't believe I have said things like "put Rafer back in the game!" lately....
Definitely Not, this is not his best season at neither Shooting %, Scoring, Assists, Rebounds, 3pt %, FT %, nothing... Sorry, but MIP is for players that had exceeded their capacities comparing his years past, Rafer has not yet.
if you look at where rafer started at the beginning of the season to now...then sure. but that's not how it works. as the prior poster mentioned, it's against last season, and because of rafers really bad start, his overall stats will not look like a big boast over last years. had he played this way from the beginning maybe, but it's tough for an older player to get - usually younger guys get it.
how can he when his stats are about the same as last season? improved in overall fg% but dropped in 3pt fg%.
and if Camby (one) has more DPOYs than Garnett (zero), and Eaton has as many as Hakeem.... oh screw it...don't get me started.
Its been said now lets not ever say it again. (I support the guy and like him but no way in hell he can get it)
dude..whoever started this thread is a genius...I love rafer right now..floater in the lane..pop a 3 on the right..and act like Tmac on the baseline..thats what I'm talking about...Geeeeeeeez
man, i gotta admit i was wrong about rafer, he now is becoming one of the best street ballas who ever played in NBA.
Rafer sucked last year. I wanted him off the team. I did not trust him with the ball at all late in the game. He continued that play early in the season. His only saving grace was that everyone else, (James, Francis, Head and even Brooks sucked more). I still wanted to trade him. I thought there was no chance for anyone else to get in their groove if Rafer was getting most of the minutes. Even after trading for Jackson and watching him play the first game I thought he might be better than Rafer. And I was satisfied that at least we had a confident guy that could come in strong at the end of big games if needed. I still was worried that Rafer might choke in the big games. Rafer has proven me wrong on every occasion. He is playing the best basketball of his Rocket career and he actually seems to still be getting better. Last night he hit clutch shot after clutch shot. He runs the offense near flawlessly and defers to Tmac when he feels necessary. I don't know about the rest of the league but Rafer is my most improved player on this Rockets team for sure. P.S. Tmac gets honorable mention.
